Visitors come to Devon throughout the year to visit its historic cities, such as Plymouth, and also to enjoy the great range of outdoor attractions on offer in this most diverse of the English counties. The coastline is especially varied, indented with sandy coves and bays, and on a visit here you can stay at a picturesque Devon B&B or guesthouse and spend a day out at Blackpool Sands, one of the best beaches in the region.
Blackpool Sands is the equal of any beach over in Spain and you won't have to break the bank to get here. The beach is a Blue Flag stretch of magnificent fine sands with a backdrop of scented pines and evergreens. It has rather more than just a whiff of the Mediterranean about it, and the standards are kept exceptionally high, making it one of the country's most popular beaches with families.
Apart from the fine quality of the sands, the waters off this stretch of the Devon coastline are unusually clear, and the Environmental Agency tests them on a regular basis for cleanliness. Between March and October, Blackpool Sands beach is cleaned every day, so the standards really are very high and all the family will have a great, safe time. The facilities too are superb - one runs out of superlatives when describing Blackpool Sands - and visitors have free access to showers, toilets and disabled facilities. Sandpits are in place for toddlers to play about in away from the water, so families basically have everything in place for a fabulous day at the seaside.
Water sports enthusiasts will be delighted at what's on offer at Blackpool Sands. Paddle boards, wetsuits and kayaks are all available for hire, and professional lifeguards are on duty here throughout the summer to keep everyone safe. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between March and October, but if you have brought a dog along on holiday with you there are plenty of other beaches nearby to take him to.
