Bayards Cove Inn

"Lovely small boutique hotel near the quayside with friendly staff and nicely decorated. Very busy with a coffee shop and restaurant on lower ground. Being one of the oldest buildings in the town it has low ceilings, steep stair cases, beams and wonky floors! The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and our bed and pillows were very comfortable. Free WiFi, bottled water, tv, tea & coffee, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and USB plug points besides the bed are included. A couple of rooms are on the first floor and the others on the second/third floor. Breakfast is served between 8-11am and was excellent, as was the coffee! Unfortunately we can’t review the dinner as we had other plans but it looked great. Parking is an issue within the town and we were aware of this before arriving. After October, parking is slightly better and we managed to park for three days in a free car park, a five minute walk away. Being an old building, the windows are not double glazed, therefore especially the front bedrooms are draughty and you hear the traffic and people. The hotel is at the end of lower street/ Bayards cove with a pub next door so not much through traffic but you do hear the deliveries reversing first thing in the morning. We enjoyed our stay here and visiting the surrounding areas -via the ferries and steam train. Dartmouth was delightful! Well recommended!"

The room was perfect, thoughtful touches everywhere, the location right on the edge of the town centre was excellent, everything the town had to offer was less than a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was 5*. "I stayed in Dart Lookout for 8 days and it really is a sanctuary and a place to relax and watch the world go by. Birds, cruise ships, staff from the hotel below, next door’s dog - I watched and enjoyed them all from the window seat of dreams that is the best part of this house. The big bed follows in close second - super comfortable with lovely bedding. Open the curtains in the morning and watch the sun come up over the water. Perfect! The bathroom, downstairs loo and kitchen could do with a serious revamp but I just took them for what they are and made the positives outweigh any negatives. The fridge broke on my second day but the response was immediate and a new fridge was installed and working within 5 hours - that must be a record! Thank you so much, Paul! Be prepared for lots of steps up from the garage (48), but think of the cardio benefit and the arrival is more than worth the effort. I loved it! Thank you!"
