"Absolutely shocking. The air con had stopped working but this information wasn’t given to us. We checked in and overhead another guest talking about the lack of air con so we asked and were sheepishly told we could either have a refund or a fan. We went to the room to assess the situation and it was awful. We received about 8 emails prior to check in, asking if we wanted to upgrade our stay but no one thought to pre warn us of the biblical temperatures. We were told that the air con in the building wasn’t sufficient to service all the rooms to the degree of heat we’ve been having which would seem to be a massive oversight for a chain as big as Radisson. As it was so late in the day, we couldn’t find alternative accommodation so had to return home instead which ruined a birthday weekend that we had planned. Luckily we managed to find alternative accommodation the next day but I feel a lot more could have been done by the staff and hotel. Surely there is a sister hotel they could have contacted or at least tried to fix the situation but they couldn’t have cared less. They very much gave the air of just trying to get away with it as best as they could and were trying to keep as much business through omittance of truth. Absolutely diabolical way to treat customers."

"The second time we have stayed. We booked because of it's close proximity to the NEC for a weekend event. The staff are excellent. Always welcoming, friendly and incredibly helpful. It makes a big impact on the stay and is the reason we have returned. There is a big car park with free parking. The communal areas are kept very clean. So too are the bedrooms. Unfortunately the hotel does require some TLC. There was peeling wallpaper in the bedroom and the fixtures in the bathroom were tarnished and quite outdated. The shower is not suitable for anyone above 5ft6! You have to crouch to get underneath it. There is no aircon in the rooms and the windows do not open further than a few inches (due to safety locks), which restricts air flow in the room. Not ideal when we visited at one of the hottest times of the year. There was a desk fan in the wardrobe, which we used overnight. It was better than nothing, but obviously not ideal. Rooms are spacious and the beds are super king (2 singles together), which were very comfortable. Tea/coffee/biscuits and bottled water are provided in the room and replenished daily. The breakfast is buffet style. Vast selection, with some things available in addition on request. Staff constantly monitor food levels and ensure things are available for guests. Cleaning is continuous and it's the tidiest breakfast buffet I've ever been to! Have not used bar/restaurant, so cannot comment. Overall it's a great place. Would be excellent if updated."

"We had reserved two rooms. One of the rooms had such an awful, musty smell that it hit you as soon as you opened the door. We notified reception and were given a bottle of air freshener. Sprayed half a bottle in the room and went out to dinner. When we came back smell was still there and still as pungent. TV was also not working so we called reception again. Member of staff came up to try and fix the TV and noticed the smell (almost like they had not believed us when raised the first time). We were then moved to another room which was smelling a lot better. Both rooms were in need of repairs, bathroom doors damaged and wall in a bad condition. They were clean, so that's something. A was very loud, but no way of opening windows so only way to get fresh air. Breakfast was just basic, only apples and oranges as fresh fruit, nothing to put on bread apart from jam and marmite, no cheese no cold meats. Very limited options and staff was not helpful or even looking like they wanted to be there. Location was superb, although if travelling by car parking is expensive. We parked in the B4 car park as instructed, were given the 55% discount and still paid close to £20 for 15 hours. Would not use this hotel again."
