St Helens
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (1 review)
"More a self catering flat than an hotel however We were happy with it. It is in the suburbs of St Helens a distance from the town centre. St Helens Junction train station is about 5 mins walk, and a good little cafe for breakfast less than 2 mins walk. The area was quiet at night and there are a couple of local shops equally close for such things as milk for drinks. We used it as a base to explore the area hence we only used the kettle and the wifi. Would be happy to use again."

How much does a pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead cost?
You can find pet-friendly hotels in Birkenhead from £41 with Expedia. Staying at a pet-friendly hotel offers a convenient and welcoming experience for travellers who don't want to leave their furry companions behind. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for our cheapest rates.
Which area of Birkenhead is best to stay in for pet-friendly hotels?
The best area to stay in Birkenhead for pet-friendly hotels is generally around the waterfront, particularly near Woodside Ferry Terminal.

This area offers good transport links and easy access to walking paths along the River Mersey, which is ideal for dog owners. You'll find several hotels here that understand the needs of travellers with pets, often providing amenities like bowls or designated walking areas.

Families travelling with pets will find this location convenient. The ferry terminal gives you direct access to Liverpool's waterfront attractions without the hassle of driving, and there are open spaces nearby for pets to exercise.

For those looking for a quieter stay with their pet, the areas slightly further inland, such as around Oxton Village, may offer some suitable guesthouses or smaller hotels.
How do I ensure I have booked a pet-friendly room in Birkenhead?
To ensure you've booked a pet-friendly room on Expedia, use the filters in your search and select "Pet friendly" under the "Amenities" section. This will narrow your options to properties that allow pets. Once you find a hotel you're interested in, click on it and review the "Policies" section for specific details about their pet policy. This often includes information about pet types, size restrictions, fees, and whether pets are allowed in all rooms or only certain ones. When selecting your room type, read the room description to check that its pet-friendly, as not all rooms in a pet-friendly hotel may accommodate pets. For added peace of mind, contact the hotel directly to confirm the room you've selected allows pets.
What pet-friendly activities should we do in Birkenhead?
The best areas to stay in Birkenhead are generally around the Hamilton Square area or along the waterfront towards Seacombe, offering good access to pet-friendly activities.

Hamilton Square is a central and historic part of Birkenhead, known for its impressive Georgian architecture. It's a key transport hub, with Birkenhead Hamilton Square train station making it easy to get around. The square itself is a large, open green space, great for dog walking and provides a pleasant setting for pets.

For couples traveling with their dogs, staying near Hamilton Square means you're well-placed for strolls through the square and along the nearby streets, which often have pavement cafes with outdoor seating where dogs are welcome. It's also convenient for accessing the Merseyrail network for trips to other pet-friendly locations in the wider Merseyside area.

Alternatively, the area around Woodside Ferry Terminal and the Seacombe waterfront is excellent for pet owners. This offers direct access to the Mersey Ferries, many of which allow dogs on board, providing a unique sightseeing experience. There are also expansive waterfront paths ideal for dog walks with views across to Liverpool.

Families with pets will find the waterfront areas particularly appealing. The open spaces along the Mersey are fantastic for children and dogs to run around, and there are often casual eateries with outdoor seating that welcome pets.
What amenities should I look for in a pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead?
When selecting a hotel in Birkenhead for you and your pet, look for amenities like food and water bowls, pet-friendly outdoor spaces and pet beds. You may find hotels that go the extra mile with pet-friendly dining options, treats and toys. It's also worth looking to see if there are any pet-friendly parks or walking trails nearby.
How can I save on a pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead with Expedia?
There are plenty of ways to save on a pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead. Join One Key™, our free travel rewards program, to unlock Member Prices across a range of premium hotels. Typically, booking in advance will help you save on your pet-friendly hotel booking.
Do any Birkenhead hotels have restrictions on pet sizes or breeds?
First ensure you have picked a pet-friendly hotel by using the "Pet friendly" filter under the "Amenities" section in your search. If a hotel in Birkenhead has restrictions on pet sizes or breeds, you will find this information clearly in their property listing on Expedia. When you're on the property listing page, simply click on "Policies" to see what pet-specific policies the hotel implements.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead as a package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect travel package.
Can I cancel my pet-friendly hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right pet-friendly hotel in Birkenhead for you.
