"Room was quite small but very well equiped, everything worked and there was a bottle of chilled water in the fridge which was very much appreciated. Pool looked nice (didn't use it but several people did), not much in the way of a garden, small but well stocked bar. Restauarant was superb, really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection and good coffee from the machine. Hotel was very easy to find."

Top Alzonne Hotel Reviews

Hotel du Pont Vieux, au pied de la Cité Médiévale

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel in a great location, very quiet and peaceful at night even though centrally located. Breakfast was excellent"

Hotel l'Octroi

8/10 Good

"The room was clean and staff very helpful. However, the room is very small and the bathroom is a wet room, meaning no separate shower from the rest of the bathroom. The shower wand is not user friendly and we didn’t realize when we turned on the water that it lterally sprayed across the room, wetting our bathroom countertop and personal items. No coffee in the room if you like having a cup first thing in the morning."

Résidence Carmina

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel is perfectly situated for visiting the medieval city of Carcassonne. If you are looking for a central hotel at a reasonable price this is the perfect choice. The room was a spacious apartment with separate living/kitchenette and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was well furnished and clean. The residents of the hotel were friendly and I think it is a good idea to utilise the spare rooms for hotel guests. The hotel had secure parking as well."

Tribe Carcassonne

8/10 Good

"The hotel has a great view of the castle and the roof top bar is definitely a bonus. The room was clean and have everything we needed however the toilet was in what can only be described as a cupboard with no space at all. The decor was too dark so much so that we couldn’t find the light switches! The carpet was black and when we dropped a black hair brush on the floor it took us 10 Minutes to find it!"

Comfort Aparthotel Carcassonne

10/10 Excellent

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Alzonne?

The best area to stay in Alzonne is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main square and the historic streets.

Alzonne's village centre is a compact and historic area, characterised by its narrow, winding streets, stone buildings, and the central square, Place de la République. This square is often where you'll find the local market and cafes, acting as the heart of village life. The Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, runs just outside the village, offering pleasant walks and cycling paths.

Couples looking for a tranquil and authentic French village experience will find the centre of Alzonne ideal. It provides a peaceful base with a few local amenities within easy walking distance, such as a bakery for morning pastries and a couple of traditional restaurants for evening meals. The proximity to the Canal du Midi is great for leisurely strolls or bike rides together.

For those travelling with a family, staying within the village centre offers convenience and a gentle pace of life. Children can enjoy exploring the small streets, and the nearby canal path provides a safe and flat area for cycling or walking.

When is the best time to go to Alzonne?

The best times to visit Alzonne are during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September, when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and the region is less crowded.

May and June offer warm, sunny days great for exploring the local vineyards and the Canal du Midi. Temperatures are generally comfortable, making it ideal for cycling along the canal towpaths or enjoying al fresco dining in the village. This period is also excellent for couples looking for a relaxed holiday with opportunities to discover the local culture without the peak summer crowds.

September provides a similar experience with comfortable temperatures and the added bonus of the grape harvest season, which can be an interesting time to visit local wineries. The summer rush has subsided, making it a good choice for those who prefer a quieter travel experience while still enjoying good weather.
