Looked like it had seen better days - clear signs of people trying hard to keep the place clean and fresh but it had a TV from the 80s and few comforts in the room. The only thing that would put me off staying again is the mattress which was the worst I've ever slept on. My partner weighs around 90kg - he lay down and sank into the bed, causing a massive dip. "I would recommend this hotel for someone wanting a place to sleep near the city centre. We stayed here four nights while we explored and it was brilliantly located for the trains, trams and walking. The lift was out of order when we arrived and the staff took all our luggage to our room for us, after switching us to a room on the first floor. The beds were comfortable and the bar area excellent. "Used the hotel as visiting Birmingham for a premier league game, firstly great price, good location walking from the train station and fairly easy getting home from villa park. Room was spotlessly clean, fresh and modern. Check in was easy and no stress of keys etc , all done on your mobile phone. Will definitely use again next time I’m in Birmingham. "

"Second time staying at the Apollo. First time wasn’t so great, had a bedroom just of an open walkway, large gaps in the door where the wind blow through. This time however, I had a room within one of the blocks, the room was basic but comfortable, bed and pillows were good the room was nice and warm and the breakfast was adequate."
