Very close to a really nice bar restaurant called skippers and also a more local cheaper one called sharkies. We stayed when it rained like crazy so didn't get into the pool area which looked quite nice. The rooms were a little dated but this reflected in the price I guess, the beds were comfy and reception staff very friendly
These appear to be former apartments complete with an upstairs bedroom and bath, large living room with a hide a bed and a full size kitchen. There is also a great balcony over the canal. Older construction but perfect location and setup for fishing or diving. I will go back there next time we go to the Keys.
As far as hotels go in Key Largo, I really do not have any real complaints about the Holiday Inn. The hotel is older, as are most of them in this area. If you are looking for a Key West type hotel you will not be happy. We were in Key Largo to SCUBA dive and found this hotel to be adequate. We did not eat at the restaurant because it was not open for dinner. They do have a tiki bar out by the pool that was nice if you want to relax and have a drink. The two outdoor pools were very nice. The staff was ok, they were not rude but it was apparent that they just wanted to do what they had to and be done with it. I would say for the money and area, I would stay here again.
We just spent a week at the Pelican and enjoyed our stay. Right on the water with two docks to enjoy awesome sunsets. Free breakfast, free wifi, and free kayaks included with your stay. My family of four, with two kids under 12, loved every minute at the Pelican. If I had to critique something, I'd bring up a few ants coming in from the shower window and the maids don't clean your room daily...which isn't a big deal, you just have to catch them in the morning for fresh towels, etc..
We wanted to offer an opportunity for our 12 yr old grandson to practice his snokeling., This property, with its very close location to Pennekamp Park, was perfect. Everything was great. There is a wonderful, private, clean beach area and a nice pool. The Tiki bar added some festivity. The breakfast was very nice with a large dining area which is always a plus. We are already planning our next trip back!
The largest of the Florida Keys in the northern archipelego is Key Largo. Two highways connect Key Largo to the mainland. The eastern part of sland is home to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the site of the only living coral barrier reef in the U.S.
