We were initially skeptical due to the cost and the outside appearance giving a motel look. But we could not have been more pleased overall. However, I strongly recommend paying whatever extra to have a view of the water/bay (not just the pool)! These rooms put you near the end of the building overlooking the private beach and gorgeous bay, as well as beautiful tropical landscaping and the tiki bar vs the parking lot. I would also strongly recommend getting a 100 level room, if possible so you can walk directly out onto your patio and to the beach vs having to walk through the hotel.
Additionally, if you have kayaks and/or paddle boards, this is the PERFECT place to bring them! They have kayaks to rent, but I heard they were pricey.
The tiki bar had a nice relaxing vibe, but it took forever to get a drink because there was only one person working and each person always ordered more than one drink, and the mixed drinks always still had frozen chunks of ice in them because the blender was extremely outdated; which also contributed to the long wait times. This seems like a super easy fix for management. Also, update and get a square reader or something so guests don’t have to write down their name, room #, amount and tip every time they want a drink. Another easy fix that isn’t costly and really should be considered given the COVID-19 day we live in, as well as just being in the 21st century.
But I would definitely stay here again if we were in the Key Largo area!
