Useful stop-over for a weekend conference in Winch

Posted 27-Apr-2015
Pros: Quiet, comfortable beds, good breakfast.
Cons: Not much.
Location: Quiet location, we didn't need anything to do as we were there for a reason.
Found the b&b without problem. Walked down to the city for a meal which was very pleasant.

Pocket size B+B.

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: Quiet. Good welcome. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Location: Convenient for buses to town and around, but immediate terrain very hilly. For things to do read the many leaflets available .
Top of the town, next to the hospital. Very quiet .Parking tight but provided. Good welcome and local information. Buses to town stop nearby on the main road, frequently. Room very small, ensuite facilities just adequate but smart and very clean. Decent shower unless you are kingsize. I found the hot water at our washbasin could change to cold, and stay that way although I ran it for a while. Immediately after,my wife found absolutely no problem! Strange! Found the duvet on our comfortable double bed rather too hot for comfort. Breakfast comprehensive continental, and good quality.Wide range of items available. Attentive service.

Nice B&B in a lovely town

Posted 11-Mar-2015
Pros: It's was very clean, and the owner was quite friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room we stayed in was very small. For me this wasn't a big deal, but it's a bit of shoehorn if you have much luggage at all.
Location: Winchester is lovely, surrounded by countryside, with a lot of medieval history. The Cathedral and the St. Cross Hospital are a couple of highlights.
Overall we had a good experience and enjoyed our stay. It's about .8 miles from downtown Winchester (and not quite as far to the train station), and there's plenty to see there.

It wasn't a particularly enjoyable stay. It would never occur to me to turn my 2 bed semi into a three room B&B and it seems like this is what's been done here. The room was claustrophobic and had I pad a full price for it (luckily I had a discount from Hotels.com) I would be very upset. The breakfast was disappointing, instant porridge, croissants from a packet and no cooked food available. The owner was nice, but I only met him briefly at breakfast. Would definitely not stay there again.

Winchester stop over

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: Location. comfortable beds. Lots of soft towels provided.
Cons: Our only disappointment was fewer items on offer for the continental style breakfast than our previous visit. I would also love a boiled egg!
Location: The city mill is interesting especially as it is a National Trust property. We chose this time of year for the Christmas Market.
We stayed in this B&B before & were particularly impressed that we could park on the forecourt. It was an ideal location for visiting the Christmas markets.

Great for a short stay

Posted 28-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Really close to the uni and hospital and a downhill walk directly to the town centre and Cathedral. Clean room with ensuite, good bed, nice and helpful people. Fine for a short stay but lack of communal room would make a longer stay a bit less inviting.
