The hotel would get a higher rating if it wasn't for the mosquitoes. Friendly, helpful staff, nice room and breakfast. Out of town but not far from public transport. But what good is all that if you're kept awake by the buzzing of a bug in your ear? Perhaps I was unlucky or this is always an issue in that part of the world anyway. And, to be fair, the front desk was able to lend me a can of bug spray so that was helpful. Would recommend but beware of the (small number of) mozzies.

This is a great hotel in a central position. It is not cheap, but worth what you pay. We had a deluxe room with a terrace - very nice to rest outside in the morning or evening mid-summer. Breakfast is extra and is a vast and plentiful buffet (24 euros per person) - cheaper to try one of the many little bars and cafes nearby. The pool and spa are great for refreshing after a long day site-seeing. But again the treatments are not cheap - perhaps good for a treat or present. The tapas served on the roof-top terrace bar is great - good food and fantastic views - very popular, good to book.

Spent a long weekend in Barcelona and was recommended to use this hotel. Its located just off Av Diagonal in more of the business/higher quality shopping area, which is busy during weekdays, but plenty of places to cross and we never noticed the traffic. You are in the centre of a city after all! Its about 15min walk to Placa de Catalunya (the central hub for tourist buses etc) but about 30mins to the beach, if that's your thing, so a taxi would be required. Sightseeing open top buses (the best way to travel around the city) have stops at Placa de Francesc Macia about 10min walk from Hotel. Nearest tube station was Diagonal, about 8 min walk. It was our first time in Barcelona and we enjoyed every minute. Restaurants were a little more expensive and not as good quality in and around La Rambla (Tourist area) but excellent closer to the hotel. Loads to see and do and we felt safe even walking back to the hotel in the wee small hours after a little tipple or three! Catalonians were very polite and helpful. We would definitely visit and use this hotel again.

When I arrived at the hotel the room given to me was quite small...however, following my request, I was given a bigger room with a much better view as there was availability...in general, the hotel is affordable, clean and in a convenient location for exploring the city...

Good hotel with friendly staff near art museums and Hemmingway hangouts (restaurant and sherry bar). Did not eat breakfast there so cannot comment on that. Staff very helpful on location of sites to visit.

Hotel located 3 min walk from bars and restaurants ( about 20 restaurants). Lovely converted house with super pool. Very peaceful and very authentic but with some nice design touches. Bathroom could do with updating but water pressure fine. Ate in the hotel restaurant on last night which is run by an independent couple so feels like a proper restaurant. Food is stunning. Had black pork stuffed with dates followed by creme Catalana. Delish! And good wines too. Overall this town is a completely undiscovered gem -big enough to eat at a different restaurant every night but friendly and very authentic with narrow cobbled streets and two squares where the late night crowd gather for drinks chats and even dancing. I got a train from Palma really easy and nice trains bang on time. They leave Palma every hour at 15 mins past and take 45 mins. Brilliant location in the centre of the island as no more than 25 mins drive from everywhere including hidden coves for swimming. The town is very cycling friendly and even has a well stocked bike shop for hire or spares
