"Honeymoon in San Sebastian"
We were in San Sebastian for 3 days in June, and we had a great time. Hotel Silken Amara was a 20 minute walk along the river from the old city, which was much needed after all the eating we did! For anyone who does not want to walk, there is a bus that stops right outside the hotel (we did not take it, but the hotel staff told us about it). Taxis are also easy to find. The hotel room was clean and a good amount of space for two people. Great value for the price we paid during peak tourist season. The food in San Sebastian is out of this world, with amazing pintxos bars, and wonderful Michelin-starred restaurants. We were lucky enough to book a table at Akelarre only a few weeks in advance. This is our favourite food city in the world!

"Superb Hotel with magnificent views!"
What unbelievable views over the bay of San Sebastian - awesome!! Most rooms have a sea view and they are spectacular. The room was very spacious and the single beds were almost the size of a double. The hotel is attached to a fairground which was so old fashioned but very quaint and appealing..... Excellent value for money!!

"Great Hotel"
This is a very modern and clean hotel. It is a little far from the beach, but it is a short 8-10 Euro taxi ride into the main city center and beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"great location, terrific rooms with great views"
All the rooms are above eight floors so you have the chance to see the city from the big windows. Room is large and very clean. Easy access to beach and the old town. Besides, the beach should be visited at all different hours to catch its charm.

"Business-style hotel a bit far from the action"
In San Sebastian for a medical conference. Nice hotel only somewhat far from the main part of the city. However, buses are easy and frequent. Hotel restaraunt is a nice addition with an excellent, well-priced Prix Fixe 3-course lunch and dinner.

"Holiday by train"
Having travelled through Spain by train San Sebastian was our last stop staying at this hotel. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and she made sure we had maps and pointed out places to go and eat etc. We felt that the customer service was very good throughout our stay. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. As a previous person has commented there was a smell of some sort of air freshener in the hotel but to be honest after a while it was not noticeable. There was plenty of choice at breakfast with different breads, croissants, cakes, cut meats, fruit etc. We enjoyed our stay and would use this hotel again.

"Time to live the your fantasy life."
If you've ever seen the movie or play Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The Maria Cristina could be the hotel in Beaumont sur Mere. Beautiful, posh public space with enormous rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is gorgeous (needs to be for the price). This is not a hotel for the faint of heart expense wise. But if you've got the cash, they provide the experience.

"Great hotel & the best location in San Sebastian"
The sea view is worth every penny of the up charge. Higher floors are preferable. Comfortable bar and lounge area downstairs. The hotel is a blend of old world elegance and modern convenience. If it's in your price range, it's an easy choice.

"A WARM AND CONVENIENT STAY"
Hotel Avendia is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Donostia-San Sebastian but it is conveniently close. It's an easy downhill walk to the incredible beaches and not a bad walk back. Taxi one way is less than 6 Euros and buses run every half hour. The hotel itself does not have a view of the beach but it does have a sweeping panorama of the city. The staff is multi-lingual English-Spanish & Basque, happy to be there, and there's someone on the desk 24-7. We stayed there 10 nights. Wake-up calls perfect. For a couple the rooms are just right. Be careful of the showers -- the water is powerful and hot. It's easy to control though. Room Service: great and they don't expect tips. They have an excellent breakfast buffet, eggs, bacon, sausages, bagels, croissants, cold meats & cheeses, Danish, muffins, corn flakes, yogurt etc plus various coffees for about 9 Euros each. One point that attracted us: they have free parking which a lot of downtown hotels do not. We plan to return either this fall or next spring for at least a couple of weeks. Incidentally the staff love it when one uses Euskadi (Basque): try Eskerrik asko! Hope this helps.
