"The George Hotel is a lovely old building with helpful staff and I enjoyed my stay here. Full marks for providing a locked room to store bicycles in; slightly fewer marks for also hosting a large wedding party, though it's good to see business coming their way. I was surprised to find on my departure that I had already paid for my stay; apparently that was done on booking in, but without telling me or giving me a receipt. "Pros: location, history of building, comfort of bed. Impressive water pressure for 2nd floor. Nice tea setup with biscuits. Great blackout curtains: I didn’t even realize there were streetlights outside my window until I opened the curtains at night. Neutral: Has a physical key, not a keycard, which makes no difference to me. Window opens a little and you can request a fan. Cons: not very clean-looking. Carpet clearly needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. Bathroom looks like it was renovated...

"Good friendly clean hotel. No breakfast and parking very limited but all good. Probably wouldn't book again due to the parking but im a 'parking snob' and have a LWB van so after a 12 hour day dont want to be walking half a mile to my hotel plus have the van on the side of the street. But hotel all good 4* stars"

"Lovely bay windowed room with garden views and enormous bathroom. We booked the upgraded room and the main difference to our friends standard room seemed to be the room location and the size of and facilities in the bathroom (we had twin washbasins, large bath, separate large shower, bidet, wc). The breakfast was very good. Plenty of parking. No dinner facilities or bar, but close to lots of bars and restaurants in the town."

"We booked in so that we could attend the Theatre Royal, which is close by. We wondered whether the parking would be adequate, and it was. We had lunch on arrival. My wife ordered chicken kiev but the dish was really chicken escalopes, but still nice. We liked our room. Temperature control via radiator valves. Very comfortable and clean. The bathroom equipment looked brand new."
