The room was ok no frills can do with a bit of upgrade but clean and tidy ish the toilet had one of those things on the back which pumps it away which kept going off throughout the night but overall for the price was ok

A little tired
Parking & check in was fine.Overall property is looking a little tired. Room had all I needed but the bed unfortunately ranks as the most uncomfortably bed I've ever slept in. Even after turning the mattress I struggled to find an area that was not either sloping or had springs pushing into my back.

For Dickens' sake, temper your Great Expectations!
Very welcoming Host with great local information for alternative dining. Parking was easy on-site with access to Check-in through rear door direct from the car-park. Due to the age of the building design & subsequent multiple historic alterations, the floor levels vary often resulting in well-marked step locations, however those with failing eyesight or with mobility issues would do well to stay elsewhere. Likewise, I was not aware of any ramps for Ground Floor circulation in a wheelchair or a lift to upper floors (that also have many level changes) together with 'quaint' sloping floors. The Bar had plenty of beer & cider options & there was an outside seating facility for meals if required. Overall, the property is in need of some renovation & TLC to raise the internal standards to align with the kerb appeal. Bathroom & bedrooms lack freshness in decor & fittings & the periodic automatic operation of the macerator (small-bore plumbing !!) throughout the night can be irritating. For an overnight stay to sleep & freshen-up this stay was very good value for money. If you want more, pay more & stay elsewhere? I was very happy with my experience.

Old Place; But Good And Friendly
The hotel was old, but eco efforts good though noisy. Will not fault that as it was a good effort. Not a modern place but the people made it work! Our initial reception and the friendly nature of those serving us was off the scale - it was very impressive; like visiting friends.
