Things to Do in Las Vegas with Kids

“Las Vegas is known for its casinos, glamour and lively nightlife – but why should the adults have all the fun? The city has unique family-friendly activities that make it just as exciting a destination for younger visitors as older ones.

With everything from indoor theme parks to jaw-dropping natural wonders, youngsters can experience the thrill of the city without ever setting foot in a casino. Here are the best things to do in Las Vegas with kids.

See Dancing Fountains and Funky Flowers at the Bellagio
——————————————————-

The Bellagio hosts daily fountain shows at the large lake outside its entrance. The choreographed show is accompanied by music and sees fountains ‘dance’ and shoot water as high as 460 feet into the air. Shows are every half hour from 3pm to 8pm on weekdays (starting earlier on weekends), then every 15 minutes until midnight.

Also check out the hotel’s Conservatory & Botanical Garden, which you’ll find across from the lobby. A glass dome filled with 14,000-square-feet of colourfully crafted scenes, it’s a fun and fascinating space to be in. Using flowers, plants and trees, 120 gardeners construct visually stunning creations for each season, as well as one-off special displays.

Get the Adrenaline Pumping at Adventuredome Theme Park
——————————————————

Attached to the Circus Circus Hotel & Resort, the Adventuredome is an indoor theme park with rides, games and other attractions. Older kids can turn their knuckles white on the Canyon Blaster, the world’s only indoor double-loop, double-corkscrew rollercoaster, while little daredevils can jump on the gentle Frog Hopper.

The park has a roller-skating rink, miniature golf and an ‘Xtreme Zone’ with a climbing wall and indoor bungee jumping. There is also a 4D theatre. You can pay per attraction or get a day pass.

Cruise Venetian Canals and Head Up the Eiffel Tower
—————————————————-

Stay at The Venetian and you can enjoy a family trip along manmade canals in an authentic Venetian gondola. Your gondolier will sing Italian songs during the ride and might rock the gondola a little to check the kids are having fun. Each gondola seats four and the trip takes around 15 minutes.

Over at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, you can visit the city’s version of another European sight. The Eiffel Tower is a half-scale replica of the one you’ll find in Paris with an elevator that whisks you 46 stories up to the observation deck. There are family discounts and children under three are free.

Discover the Legend of Atlantis
——————————-

Within Caesars Palace, Fall of Atlantis is a free animatronic show that tells the tall tale of the legendary island. The seven-minute show, which plays on the hour, features nine-feet-tall talking figures who rise from a Roman-themed fountain.

The story focuses on the king of Atlantis deciding which of his children should be the heir to his throne. In the battle that follows, the siblings show off their strength with special effects including water, fire and lasers. Though the plot may be hard to follow for younger kids, fireballs and giant dragons should keep them entertained.

See the City From Above On The High Roller Observation Wheel
————————————————————

Rising over Las Vegas, the High Roller is the world’s tallest observation wheel (sorry, London Eye). The top of the wheel is 550 feet above the neon signs of the iconic Vegas Strip and the 28 glass cabins give 360-degree views of the city and mountains.

Little ones and their parents need not worry about getting dizzy as the wheel rotates slowly. The ride takes about 30 minutes and there are discounts for children aged seven to 17 (night-time rides are more expensive) and children under six ride for free.

Investigate Superheros at Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
——————————————————–

One for fans of the Marvel comics and movies, this interactive exhibit at Treasure Island invites visitors to explore the profiles of superheros like Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. Trainee agents must assemble case files on the characters – including accessing classified studies and experiments – to become qualified.

A range of Marvel memorabilia and movie props are displayed, including Captain America’s uniform and shield, Bruce Banner’s lab and Thor’s hammer. The journey finishes with a visit to the largest Marvel Avengers retail store in the world, including a virtual opportunity to try on Iron Man’s suit.

——————————–

While not the cheapest thing to do and not technically in Las Vegas, experiencing the Grand Canyon is one of the most memorable things to do with kids. Several companies offer helicopter rides to the 277-mile-long natural wonder and a typical trip will see you pass over the barren Mojave Desert and the iconic Hoover Dam.

The journey takes about 45 minutes and finishes with a dramatic descent of 4,000 feet into the West Rim of the canyon – the only area where landing is allowed. At the bottom, you’ll have time for exploring and a picnic – usually with champagne for the grown-ups – in the unique landscape.

You can make sure the whole family has a great stay by checking out our hotels in Las Vegas.”
