Blogger Picks: Hotels with High-Spec Gyms
“While many relish taking a deserved break away from the gym, for die-hard fitness enthusiasts it’s not so easy. This is especially true when travelling, as finding somewhere to work out – and practically fitting it in – can be challenging. The solution is fairly simple – staying at a hotel that has top-notch gym facilities. Here are some recommendations from our guest bloggers.

Axel Hotel, Barcelona, Spain
—————————–
Chosen by: Cat from Body with Mind
“Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa has one of the best gyms of any hotel in Barcelona. I always find hotel gyms to be small and a little bit pokey, but the Axel Hotel has one of the biggest gyms I’ve ever seen in any hotel. If you’re looking for somewhere to get your cardio workout in, they’ve got everything from treadmills to cross-trainers. For those that prefer strength training, there’s plenty of weight machines, dumbbells, and kettlebells. As someone that likes to keep on top of my training while travelling, it’s an amazing hotel to get your sweat on. Plus it has the added bonus of a spa, so you can treat yourself after a hard session.”

“With giant ‘pillowy’ beds, 24-hour butler service, 270-degree sea and jungle views from your bedroom, as well as a private gold-tiled jacuzzi on your bedroom balcony terrace, Hotel Mousai is the most perfect abode for travellers in search of true serenity. Sitting between tropical jungle and flour-soft sandy beach, this hotel is a little beauty that you won’t easily forget. As well as seamless design, opulent amenities, complimentary yoga sessions and the gorgeous rooftop swimming pool, you’ll be blown away by the enormous gym where, from almost every exercise machine, you have endless views of the deliciously blue Pacific Ocean.”

Westin Denver International Airport, Denver
————————————————
Chosen by: Kristen from Brave Ski Mom
“The Westin Denver International Airport (DIA) features dynamic architecture, luxurious, quiet rooms and a dream location adjacent to DIA’s soaring main terminal. But it’s the expansive, modern and comprehensive fitness studio with views of the Rocky Mountains that sells the property. No workout clothes? Westin will loan you some, including clean shoes with new insoles.”

Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel, Huntington Beach, California
———————————————————–
Chosen by: Annie from Tales of Annie Bean
“Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel, nuzzled in the heart of the action at America’s finest, Huntington Beach, California, is the ultimate surfing accommodation hotspot. Even though you can easily exercise outdoors in Surf City – by going surfing, or borrowing a yoga mat or cruiser from reception – the hotel has a state of the art gym. The best thing about it, regardless of the equipment – and your complimentary headphones and green apples – is that it has its very own climbing wall. Situated through the patio doors of the gym, you can head outside and soak up that California sunshine, whilst taking yourself for a climb!”

This hidden-gem has a fully air-conditioned, state of the art gym with wide selection of cardio vascular and resistance equipment, plus the option of highly personalised workout schedules using free weights and pulleys.
