"We absolutely loved our stay at No. 1! The hotel is beautiful, warm, and inviting. The rooms were clean and cozy. The staff were very kind and accommodating.
We also enjoyed the
spa and restaurant (Pearly Cow).
We weren’t informed about the pantry when we checked in, so make sure you ask about it if you stay. "

"Stayed here quite a few times, Beautiful hotel. Excellent
spa. Also handy as a base for Great Yorkshire Show., Knaresborough and Wetherby.
We are usually accommodated upstairs, but this time we were in a small room downstairs. Bit cramped but standard still good, Minor negatives: insufficient tea bags even after we requested more; no replacement liner in the bathroom bin.
Wonderful ambience in the Courtyard restaurant. The carvery was okay but the fish alternative and vegetables weren't warm....

"This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time, although it has changed hands since then.
On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. It was even brought to our table when we decided on a last-minute drink in the bar before heading to the station.
If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder.
So convenient for the train station. Be aware that there is a door right next to the station. The first time I went, I walked all the way around the building to the front entrance!
Would definitely stay here again."
