"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

"Great location if you are visiting the citè! Good breakfast. No luxury, just great functionality. The card terminal wasn't working on my arrival/check out making it a little uncomfortable since we had no cash on us to pay local taxes. Good room size, great bathroom"

"A great old hotel with lots of old world charm. Convenient for Carcassonne airport and a short taxi ride into town. Set in wonderful grounds with a great pool. We were here 20+ years ago and little had changed. Dinner is a special event here."

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable with beautiful views.
The breakfast was charged extra and there was plenty of cereal, bread, cheese, meats, fruits and yoghurts etc. It is over 4 km from Carcassone and buses are infrequent but there is plenty of parking if you take a car.
We had a fabulous stay.

Not in an ideal area if you do not have a car but even then was easy enough using the bus. Exceptionally helpful staff and clean room, exceeds expectations for the cost

We initially had problems finding it due to our Satnav but it's so well located near Carrefour and the main road to the walled city. Excellent value for money.

A great stopover on our journey through France! The hotel was conveniently located to visit the medieval city and accessible from main roads in and out of Carcassonne. It was clean and modern with really helpful, friendly staff. The pool was a real bonus on a very hot day and we loved the grapevines lining the path into reception! Not seen that before!

BJ and Iris were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The setting was great with wonderful views and a stones throw from Carcassonne city. Breakfast was wonderful with home made jams.
BJ was also very kind to re freeze our ice packs for the onward journey. We will definitely be back.

This property is like the Jewel in the Crown!!
Firstly, don't be put off by the small number of excellent reviews as it has only opened this year. The hosts, Katy and Olivier, were both working in England for many years at a high quality and popular hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Katy's family owned this Yorkshire hotel and Olivier was the head chef. When the family sold the Hotel, Katy & Olivier returned to his native France and then the Maison du canal du midi was born. We chose the hotel because it offered breakfast as part of the deal. When we got there we discovered it was a very remote (quiet) rural, converted farmhouse offering modern room facilities and excellent breakfast. It also had an outdoor, unheated, swimming pool, horses to ride and staff who could not do enough for us. Most spoke good English; the manager and his wife are both English as was the main waitress in the evenings. We chose to eat there the first night and as a result ate there...

Just returned from a few days here - great little hotel, only 300m from La Cite de Carcassone's medieval walls. Really easy to get to and from as it is on the main road east out of Carcassonne (but it is extremely quite). Rooms are good, superb air-con, very clean and spacious, with hairdryer and toiletries provided. Ours had a mini kitchenette with fridge, sink, hotplate and microwave. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nightlife and restaurants is 300m away in La Cite. Breakfast is the usual...

Lovely hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk into the old town but also on a street with plenty of amenities of its own. Free parking nearby in the Place Barbicane which was easy to find and close to the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and local products. The hotel garden was beautiful, and a cute if very small roof terrace too from which you can get a view of the city walls.
