Smelly room
We had two rooms, these were ok but one smelt of cigarette smoke and the key stopped working after one or two uses. We were asked if we had kept it near credit cards or mobile phones. Most people do. We won't stay there again. Better places for less elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback. We do have a strict no smoking policy throughout our hotel so it is extremely disappointing that you were able to smell smoke in one of your rooms. Unfortunately the technology on the key card strips is affected by credit cards and phones. We appreciate your frustration and will look at how we communicate this to our guests.

Really nice hotel big plus was the fire and ice at the Aztec really good for relaxing after a heavy night at a wedding in the torak.

The breakfast and serving staff were outstanding. The room was basic, although we booked a superior room. Booking in was not particularly welcoming, firstly we had to walk around a hazard sign and bucket to be greeted by a receptionist who informed us we were far too early to book in! Long walk and had to go outside hotel to access the pool. The carpeted walkway to the pool complex was filthy dirty and not well lit. You could smell the dirt when you opened the door to the carpeted walkway at 7.15 am in the morning. Had to pay for small towels when using the pool. The female breakfast waitress was outstanding, welcoming and superb service.

Good hotel, great facilities & location
We really enjoyed our family break here for the last week of the summer holidays. The onsite facilities and entertainment was really good for both Adults & Children, There is 4 hotels split across the complex with so much to do, read their website before you visit. We did eat out most days as we explored Torquay but the times we did eat (Breakfast one morning & lunch at the Aztech bar when we spent the day enjoying the outside pool) we found were good. The bed was comfy and we had a decent nights sleep. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the beach front. We did request rooms next to each other or close as' possible when we booked as we are a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 15 year olds) which seemed to get ignored as we were given one room on the ground floor and the other was nowhere near and on the second floor. We did question this on arrival and were told the hotel was fully booked. There is alot of rooms at this hotel so it would not have been difficult to accommodate our request. One morning we went to go out for breakfast and the door had not closed on itself & latched when our children went to bed so the door was left open slightly all night which was very worrying. Hotel rooms are dated and need some refurbishments/TLC but please do not let this put you off staying as everything else makes up for this. Just check that everything works! We would happily stay here again and recommend TLH Toorak & the hotel complex.

Fabulous
What a fantastic group of hotels. Stayed in the Toorak but could use all the other hotel's facilities. Friendly staff, free parking and a 5 min walk to the seafront. Room was spacious. Breakfast was good but a little variety would be nice, different pastries, so.e cheeses, especially for us non meat eaters but we loved it here!

pleasant stay
we came back yesterday after a few days at the hotel we were happy with our stay kids had plenty to do an really enjoyed the outside pool as it was really good weather when we were there arcade room with pool tables gives u enough to do if the weathers not to good also inside is a lovely pool also . a nice 10 mins walk to the beach which is very easy to get to.. all staff were very pleasant… parking wasn’t a problem at all…

They are letting rooms above boiler room, from which there is a droning noise and vibration throughout the night. Room also stank of smoke. Staff did nothing about either issue. I ended up sleeping on the floor in one of the hotel’s function rooms. Hotel refused refund and managed to ruin holiday. Brilliant.

Toorak Hotel revisited after 50 years and had not
Our stay was good my wife had worked there in the restaurant over 50 years ago and said it looked and even smelt the same apart from now being joined to the other 3 hotels. Being joined to the other 3 hotels meant there were a lot more on site facilities but finding a parking spot was a problem and once we had finally found a place to park we spent the rest of the weekend walking everywhere to avoid loosing our parking space. Generally the hotel was clean and tidy but could do with a lick of paint and the windows in our room needed cleaning thoughly inside and out which was definitely obvious when the sun shone.

Unlike many hotels our on site parking if free of charge however it is on a first come first served basis which means it can be busy at peak times. Dated rooms but good hotel
Hotel is freindly but a bit dated,beds were very uncomfortable old style spring beds,room was large shower was dissaponting.Breakfast wass really good and tasty and hot.Entertainments was good with differnt bars to chose from.Check in staff polite and freindly.If they updated the rooms and showers this rating could easily go up from a three star hotel

Service great. Staff friendly and helpful. Swim pool really good. Food excellent m. My husband has mobility issues. We were allocated ground floor room with terrace and disabled parking.

Love this hotel
Love this hotel, the staff are brilliant, the food is lovely, and always clean. I have been coming for several years and would always recommend, it is an old building and some areas are dated, it is great for a chilled and relaxed break, if you want to party and drink like an 18 year old then I would suggest this is not the hotel for you. The only problem I have ever had is with the behaviour of other guests !!!!!!!

The hotel is looking very tired. It needs a freshing up. One of the walls in the restaurant has a big stain on it. It would of been great during lockdown to have had that sorted before guests came. The hotel room looked tired too. Stained net curtains. I reported no hot water from the shower on my 1st night, reported it again on my 2nd night. Water out of the taps we're very hot but when you turned the shower on, then it was bearly lukewarm. It's the worse hotel experience I've had in Torquay. I have at least 2 visits a year. This was my 1st and last time here. On a real positive note the restaurant staff we're amazing. The food was outstanding and very tasty. Plenty of it too. Real credit to the chef and all the restaurant staff for looking after me during meal times.

I am sorry that you had issues with hot water and you were disappointed with the standard of your room and the hotel. We do have a a refreshment and refurbishment programme operating and in fact we did paint every bedroom during lockdown however with no revenue coming in we were limited with how much we could spend.

We refused to stay in the room in the Toorak because it was just awful. The hotel was very tired and in need of a lot of repair but the hotel room was just awful. The bed sheets and towels looked clean but the carpet was threadbare, every aspect of the room was grim…. We rang the THL main call centre and requested a transfer to another THL Hotel the Victoria. The staff were lovely, in both hotels and the transfer went without a problem. The Victoria Hotel was great…. The room, food and staff.

Friday to Bank Holiday Monday stay. Hotel a bit dated but clean enough. Excellent breakfast and food good at the Aztec bar. Parking a bit of a nightmare but we will be going again.
