📍Tomatin Distillery, Tomatin.

Located approximately 15 miles South of Inverness and located just off the A9 road, lies Tomatin Distillery. Although it is thought whisky had been produced on the site as far back as the 16th century, the distillery was officially founded in 1897. The distillery operated with only 2 stills up until 1958, after this time more stills were gradually added, resulting in 12.5 million litres of whisky being produced annually. By 1987 the distillery was referred to as the largest single malt distillery in Scotland, although during the mid 80s, stills were actually being dismantled, resulting in the distillery's capacity being cut to 5 million litres, as of today the distillery is producing 2.5 million litres annually. Due to liquidation of it's owners in 1986, the distillery was bought over by Japanese group Takara Shuzo, who own the distillery to this day. Although the distillery has declined in overall production, it still boasts a fine array of whiskys including single malts aged 12,14,18,25 and 36 years old, aswell as the Cu Bocan and blends such as Antiquary and Talisman. A thoroughly enjoyable tasting tour had by all!🥃 #likealocal
