One of the oldest working theatres in Britain hosts dramas, comedies, operas and even a few ghosts in a stunning Georgian building .

Step into the ornate Georgian Theatre Royal Bath and watch a variety of entertaining performances. Enjoy the elaborately decorated Main House or the modern Ustinov Studio. Take your family to the Egg Theatre, which has shows for all ages.

Built in 1805, the Theatre Royal Bath was the first Theatre Royal outside of London. Visit this beautiful example of Georgian architecture and see ornate plasterwork, gilt decorations and a frieze of the comic and tragic muses. Its success has seen two additional theatres added since its construction, the Ustinov Studio in 1997 and the Egg Theatre in 2005.

Enjoy the Main House, the principal and oldest of the three theatres, with the most elaborate architecture. See a number of big-name performers, dramas, West End productions, operas, comedies and dance shows.

Attend a more contemporary theatre production in the Ustinov Studio. The studio has won numerous awards for its productions, which are interspersed with visiting dramas, comedies and musicals. It also frequently hosts popular British comedians.

If you have children try the Egg Theatre. Watch performances for families, children and babies. The theatre also operates a number of workshops and projects for children. It is home to the Egg Café. Get a light lunch or a drink here. There’s plenty of stroller space and a play area.

Enjoy pre-show dining at the Vaults Restaurant or try their lunch menu. Drinks can be bought at the Jeremy Fry Bar and the Ustinov Studio Bar. Have a beer at the Garrick’s Head Pub, the oldest part of the theatre.

The Theatre Royal Bath is in the city centre, with parking lots within walking distance at Charlotte Street, Avon Street and Southgate. The theatre is also a short walk from the train and bus stations. Ticket prices vary considerably and the bigger shows can sell out fast, so book in advance.
