"Undoubtedly the most magical place we’ve ever stayed, words and pictures just can’t do The Little Cottage in the Woods justice. Every corner of the cottage and gardens reveal more delightful touches! We were sorry to have to leave so soon and wish we could have stayed longer. Even gypsy, the resident German Shepherd, provided a warm welcome to both the kids and dogs! Lynne and Jeff were the perfect hosts - friendly and helpful without being imposing. Nestled beside Loch Etive, this charming Highland village offers peaceful walks and access to Ben Cruachan's impressive 'Hollow Mountain' power station. Anglers can fish for salmon in local rivers while history buffs explore the ancient standing stones at nearby Bonawe.
We were met by our host at approximately 8 pm on the first night of our stay. We had provided an approximate time beforehand to help. We were then given the tour, which was extremely helpful. We loved the room - so clean and spacious with en-suite and the sea view was breathtaking. The new bath was very much welcomed, although we just used the superb walk-in shower provided during our stay. There were nice additional touches in the room, e.g. some whiskey to sample, tooth picks, cotton...

Beautiful lochside setting with a range of seating areas and fire pit available. Very dog friendly with towels, toys and biscuits provided. All public areas are spacious which means social distancing is possible without everyone resorting to masks. Management are very friendly and keen to make your stay enjoyable.

Our stay at the Cottage in the woods was amazing and I wish we had booked for longer. I travelled with four teens and a dog and the property was perfect. A beautifully decorated and well laid out property that had everything we needed and more.
Beautiful outdoor seating and cooking options, arrived to the fire going and a welcome basket. The hosts were very welcoming and so accommodating, especially helpful after my dog rolled in a big and I needed to fully wash him down.
I cannot rate this...

Wonderful greeting and welcoming from Darren and Karen. Perfect instructions, their local knowledge and enthusiasm and love for the area is limitless. The accommodation is superb, location is very central to some of the most historical and beautiful, silent areas. The choice of breakfast? ..I guarantee you wouldn’t get the choice of cereals, jam’s etc anywhere else.. (Karen puts other ‘full’ breakfasts to shame..). We will visit the west of Scotland again and unquestionably The Old Cottage will...

If you’re looking for a luxury break in a typically Scottish baronial establishment, this is the place for you. Great staff, great location, fabulous facilities, good drinks list and plenty to keep you occupied. Ten out of ten!’ (Plus there’s peacocks!)

Fantastic weekend! Beautiful hotel with lovely attentive staff. We were thoroughly looked after all weekend. The communal rooms are so cosy and the sea view from the lounge and restaurant were stunning. Restaurant food was absolutely delicious and the drinks menu was wonderful. Loved the scottish gin menu. Would definitely come back.

The room was very clean, and a 5 star review for all the little extras/ little touches.
A little jar of oat milk in the fridge was appreciated for my teas/coffees and also being vegan there was biscuits I could eat. The bed was comfy, and the location is lovely - lovely views of the loch and great location for local hiking and the botanical gardens.
The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
The breakfasts were amazing - you choose your menu choices the night before so it’s cooked right on...

A ideal relaxing getaway if you just want to eat, walk, relax and totally chill. Everything you need for a romantic hideaway. Evening meals were a very welcome addition to a near perfect stay.
