A very quirky clean boutique hotel with fantastic sea view. I would highly recommend it

Modern clean room with a good view. Maintenance poor - room cold due to poor double glazing (very breezy). Shower in bathroom needed repairing - water squirting out of pipe rather than the head. No maid service - bed not made or towels replaced. No fridge in room.

I was brought up in Sunderland, so stayed here a number of times. It was looking a bit tired, so we loved the new refurbishment, with nautical and seaside theme (especially coming from this area it was quite nostalgic). Stayed in the Cinnamon Exec room which was very well positioned overlooking the sea. Liked the quirky Roker Hotel newspaper (gave all hotel info needed). Breakfast was lovely (had the eggs benedict). Host’s were very welcoming and friendly,breakfast very good,close to bars and restaurants.This was our 2nd stay and hope to return in the near future

We stayed at the Metropolitan whilst attending a Rugby World Cup Match at St James's Park. Only 30 min from the City Centre with frequent trains. Staff friendly and efficient. Rooms modern and well equipped.

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Newcastle and this was the best stay. The room was spacious with a well equipped mini kitchen and we had prepared 2 good evening meals there. The bed was so comfortable and the location made the hotel quiet which is a change to the noise and sirens throughout the night in my other stays! The Manager's get-together on the Wednesday and Thursday evening of my stay was unexpected and a lovely touch - free drinks and cheese and nibbles for an hour. The staff...

Fantastic, authentic castle with such history and higgledy piggledy corridors. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with an anniversary card which was a nice touch. The staff were excellent. We only had breakfast which was delicious and staff were efficient and friendly. The food in the library looked good. We had a courtyard room and were very happy with it. If you're expecting modern, corporate decor it might not be for you but we liked it and so nice to stay in a castle with character....

We used the hotel as a base whilst I underwent some tests and procedures at the Royal Victoria infirmary. The staff could not have been more helpful and all in all the quality of our stay was exceptional. The bedrooms are understated but well-equipped. Our room was spacious and incorporated a substantial ensuite bathroom (possibly made bigger by disability provision). The hotel offers free Wi-Fi this was always up and running. Great location for getting out and about to see Durham. Lovely owners and everything there that you need including a lovely cake and milk and tea/coffee for a brew when you arrive! Decorated to a really high standard.
