Nice hotel, grounds and facilities.

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: The swimming pool.
We stayed for two nights and had a pleasant stay. The grounds were nice, staff helpful and friendly and the swimming pool a good size. We had dinner in the bar area during our stay and enjoyed the food which was also reasonably priced.

Comfortable hotel

Posted 08-Aug-2016
My single room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The leisure facilities were good, but food was very ordinary and the same menu both nights. Only real downside was there was no housekeeping visit to my room on the second day.was assured all rooms are serviced every day, however mine was missed!

Hard work

Posted 08-Jul-2016
Pros: The Spa was welcome after a 4 hour drive
Cons: Tidy the place up and make sure there are enough staff to deal with functions and guests. Waiting 5 minutes at an empty bar for a drink not acceptable
I booked the hotel because of price, on arrival there was function taking place, this appeared to be taking priority over hotel guests. The fact it had a Spa area, was also a factor. The whole facility was probably a very nice venue, when it was new, but definitely needs an update. The room was spacious and clean, but the bathroom light didn't work, the shower head was wrong for the wall bracket so couldn't be used as a shower and I couldn't turn on the cold bath tap. Not much good really. I had my shower in the spa after using the pool. The spa and pool was a good facility, but again, needs a bit of a spruce up.

Nice hotel with outside chalets

Posted 17-Jun-2016
I stayed in an outside chalet which at first I was apprehensive about, but when I opened the door, the room was lovely. The hotel was well signposted off the Belstead Road and breakfast was tasty.

Comfortable, excellent breakfast, a bit "tired"

Posted 13-Jun-2016
A lovely couple of nights spent here. The room was very comfortable, staff very helpful, and breakfast was excellent. Grounds are peaceful and beautiful too. Only downside was the fact that the bedroom and some communal areas need a thorough deep clean - the doors, walls, windowsills etc were grimy. Routine cleaning was excellent, and bed linen etc was very clean and fresh, but it has obviously been some while since the rooms were decorated or deep cleaned. Lovely stay though.

The stay was just about ok. The hotel was looking tired and we understood from the staff that it had just been taken over and they were expecting a refurbishment to be taking place. The beds were not that comfortable and does not compare with Travelodge's beds. The décor in the room was tired and the wardrobes seem to date from the 60's. The phones did not work. The bathroom also was in a poor condition and there was no hot water although to be fair when we advised the staff it was fixed, apparently they had to reset the boiler. The one really excellent thing was the leisure area - the swimming pool was great and the spa was lovely

My boyfriend and I stayed at here for one night on Saturday 21st May room 518.. and we most definatley won't be returning. It was his birthday earlier in the week so thought a weekend night would be nice, i had booked hotel online via  expedia paid £89 including breakfast. we arrived about 730pm on the sat was greeted by a fairly pleasant woman on the reception. On way to our bedroom I realised the hotel was bigger than expected however very old tired and run down looking ( how people get married here I don't know!). The room was even worse. Shabby finishing - wallpaper coming off wall, MOULD on bottom of  one of the walls, lots of THICK dust behind the radiator ( looks like it's never actually been cleaned behind). The headboard of the bed also had a stain on it. The TV remote back had been lost previously and the batteries were fixed in with cellotape. I couldn't even make us a hot drink as the kettle was covered in limescale and the pipes at the bottom were black and looked discusting. Also the carpet looked pretty gross, marks everywhere and on closer inspection in the corner of the room it looked like patches of mould on carpet ( you will see this in my pictures I took and will post). To escape the room we headed out closer to town for dinner we popped back decided to go for a drink at the bar, tbf the guy at the bar was very friendly although when my partner ordered a beer the barman mentioned the chiller not working so he had to run to the other bar to get a cold beer
