Fabulous setting clean friendly reasonable price for spa. Would go again. Unfortunately was unable to get booked into the restaurant and the bar was packed so had to venture out for food. could have bottled water in rooms too.

A lovely hotel close to Ipswich

Posted 06-Mar-2017
Pros: The setting and decor as well as the breakfast.
Location: The location was quiet and a sort drive to Ipswich. Ipswich town centre is a bit of a hidden gem.
We were looking for a nice quiet hotel close to Ipswich. This hotel fitted that bill perfectly. The setting was lovely, the staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was one of the nicest I have had. It also had a great leisure facility. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent spa and swimming pool. Hotel needs work

Posted 28-Feb-2017
Pros: The Spa.
Cons: The rooms need renovating and like the last Muthu hotel I stayed in the internet connection is poor.
Location: 45 minutes walk from Ipswich city centre and just 10 minutes from the indoor bowls club.
Would go back just for the Spa and hope the renovation work noted on the website was done in the rooms.

Not the Ritz, but clean and ten times cheaper!

Booked very last minute and got a room for £40. Quite a reasonable price. The room was comfortable but a bit shabby. I had a meal which was good. Sat in the bar which had a distinct retirement home feel to it and then swiftly headed upstairs. Checked out about 5ish the following morning. The only staff available had little or no idea of what they were supposed to do. In fact they stood there arguing over how much my bill actually was!! Luckily £30 man won...and £62 man went off in a bit of a huff. But all sorted in the end. No real complaints as long as you're not expecting it to be a big treat.

Impressive building, we stayed in the rooms outside the hotel they were quite nice but still need some upgrading. Breakfast nice but some problems with food running out, lovely breakfast room. Leisure facilities very nice

Recommend by friends as easy location to meet them

Sumptuous entrance let down by steps. Grand aspirations let down by pokey dining rooms with over large furniture. Bed comfortable and room of decent standard, but en suite bathroom past it's useful life expectancy. Room 309 backs onto the swimming pool and suffers from a fan/pump noise 24/7. Dine in the bar for a more honest experience.

The room was clean but shabby. We only needed a bolt hole whilst attending a funeral so it served its purpose.
