Friendly staff couldn’t do enough for you, all areas were clean and pleasant. Breakfast was enjoyable and value for money. Evening meal again fresh and good value but a limited menu. Rooms are tired but beds are comfortable and again clean . Will stay again .

Love staying here. Lovely room with a balcony, huge bed and spotlessly clean. Staff are really nice and food is fabulous and hot. Lovely setting and so quiet. Ground floor rooms available

An excellent facility; we really enjoyed our stay.
But my wife would have liked some sort of place, with a mirror, where she could have applied her makeup.

Although the hotel was situated on a dual carriageway the rooms were quiet, clean, spacious and comfortable. We were particularly pleased to have air conditioning in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful even under such strange circumstances. The food was good with generous portions.

We stayed at the hotel which was very close to the pavilion we were visiting for the evening. We had a twin room overlooking the beachfront, lovely views. Bed was lovely and comfortable. Shower wasn't very powerful and im not use to climbing in the bath to shower. Bar was good priced and good atmosphere. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was lovely and very filling. Already booked to go back next month. Other hotels in the area are more expensive. I give this hotel a five star.

The cleaning staff set and maintain extremely high standards as do reception staff. I have increased the length of my stay at The Manor Hotel several times because of the cleanliness especially. It's location is ideal and my room has spectacular views.

Lovely hotel by the sea
We stayed at the Langstone Cliff hotel before a concert at Powderham castle. We arrived early afternoon and decided to have lunch on the terrace overlooking the sea. Lunch was lovely and the drinks were cold. Having parasol’s kept us cool on a very hot day. Our room was lovely, quite small but had everything we needed and the air con was an added bonus. The travel to Powderham was easy and relatively quick with only a short walk to the station and then about a 15 minute...

This was a home from home. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. After a 3.5 day drive from Corfu to walk through the doors of a friendly Great British hostelry was simply the best experience. Spacious accommodation in the Flat, plenty of room to unwind with my two dogs who were a little wound up after the long drive. A good nights sleep and the ability to run off steam in the field opposite, we all left relaxed and chilled. Pub grub was fabulous too! As I couldn’t stay for breakfast...

Lovely & very accommodating hosts & very good breakfasts. Room was spotless with king size bed, TV, sea views, plenty of storage space, compact ensuite, etc.
The on site parking requires some care from drivers, especially if you have a large car.
Town centre, pubs, railway station & beach all a short walk down the hill.

The best area to stay in Starcross is generally within the village centre itself, particularly near the waterfront and the train station, for convenience and access to local amenities.
The main part of Starcross is quite compact, stretching along the western bank of the River Exe. You'll find a good selection of accommodation options close to the Starcross railway station and the ferry landing, which provides direct links to Exmouth. The village has a pleasant promenade along the river, and the main street, The Strand, features local shops and pubs. It's a nicely kept area with a relaxed pace.
Couples looking for a relaxing break will appreciate staying in the village centre. You'll be within easy walking distance of local pubs and eateries, and the ferry to Exmouth offers a charming day trip across the estuary. The riverside walks provide lovely views, and the pace of life here is wonderfully unhurried.
For travellers who enjoy walking and exploring the natural surroundings, staying closer to the southern end of the village, near the Powderham Estate, offers direct access to country lanes and scenic paths.
When is the best time to go to Starcross?
The best time to go to Starcross is during the late spring, summer, and early autumn months, specifically from May to September.
This period offers the warmest weather and the longest daylight hours, making it ideal for enjoying the outdoor activities Starcross and the surrounding Devon region are known for. You'll find the River Exe estuary bustling with boats, and the walking and cycling trails are at their most inviting.
Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate May, June, and September. During these months, the weather is usually pleasant, and the main tourist crowds of the school holidays haven't yet arrived or have dispersed. You can enjoy strolls along the waterfront, explore Powderham Castle, or take a ferry trip across the estuary without feeling overwhelmed.
For families, the summer holidays in July and August are perfect. The warmer sea temperatures are good for paddling and playing on the nearby beaches, and many local attractions offer special events and activities for children.
