"Hotel was clean and modern and the staff were helpful. But... Arrived at 6.30 pm and room still not ready, given a complimentary drink voucher which I did not have time to use. Eventually checked in at 10.30 upon my return. One of the bedside lights did not work and although there was shampoo in the shower it would not pump out. The Buffet Breakfast at 7.00 am was fresh with good variety. The checkout was smooth at 7.45 am and they paid for my parking when I explained I had not used the complimentary drink voucher."

"Lovely hotel, very clean and quiet location. We arrived an hour earlier then check in with 2 younger children for our 1st trip to York and slightly disappointed to be charged £10 to go into our room earlier despite it being ready, we have never experienced this charge before. Our children received lovely little welcome packs which they were very happy with. The room was great and very roomy but very warm, we had to have the air conditioning on for our whole stay! Overall, we were very happy with our stay."

"Lovely stay, reasonably priced. The breakfast was the only let down really, but it was complimentary. I'd rather pay and have some mushrooms and black pudding, and nice eggs! The waffle maker was good though."

"This feels like a pub with "regulars", so it has personality. The menu is fairly pub standard, but the meal I had was done well. There's a pleasant garden and the riverside is just a short walk away. The room was a comfortable size, the radiator and bathroom towel rail were heat adjustable, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There were a couple of minor issues; I reported on leaving and the manager said he'd address them and they'd probably have moved me if I'd raised them earlier. The location is convenient: an easy walk into town, via streets or riverside as you prefer, but not so central as to be noisy. And parking on site, which becomes rare a couple of blocks further into town."

"Checked in for 1night as we travelled to attend a family funeral, upon entering the room the curtain was shut and the smell of mould of very overpowering. Opened the curtain to be greeted with alot of black mould all over the window the curtain and underneath the table, i spoke to staff on reception about this as my partner has chronic asthma and they moved us rooms very helpful. We moved rooms and went straight out to eat as we had been travelling all day, we went back to the room later on to notice this room also had mould in a broken window lock and a broken table, body hair left in shower! Spoke to the main desk again and they offered us a new ropm it was 11.30pm and we had to be up crack of dawn for a funeral! I saod no the room will do for 1 night as we were so tired, during the night it was so noisy people shouting. Spoke with the manager the next morning and was given a full refund as 2 rooms were disgusting. Staff were helpful but hotel is outdated and mouldy, pictures do not match reality it was like a place they house ex cons!"
