"Super friendly and helpful welcome. Room had everything I needed for a couple of nights, and the coffee machine was a very welcome bonus.
Breakfast was good, plenty of selection with hot food cooked to order."

First class furnishings, including very wide and comfortable bed, and good ensuite. The breakfast room was closed because of Covid 19, but the room service breakfast was very comprehensive and very generous, and delicious!

Great little find. Nothing really local in terms of walking distance, but well equipped rooms with double glazing, heating and air con, comfy beds and friendly service.
Fantastic food that locals travel specifically for - would stay again if in the area.

Great hotel! Spotlessly clean; staff well trained and appeared genuinely happy to be there. Customer service very good. Food very good also. Would stay again.

Had a lovely stay at Pengelly Farmhouse. A beautiful properly, spotlessly clean and lovely thoughtful touches. Homemade biscuits were lovely and even some treats for our dog. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and perfectly cooked! We will most definitely be back again, thank you!

I stay in a lot of hotels with my work trips and this is one of the best if not the best place to stay. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with a warm, helpful and happy check in. All the staff are extremely polite and go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing and pleasent as possible. I have stayed here many times in different types of there accommodation and each one is to the highest standard and extremely clean and tidy and are set in beautiful surroundings with a lovely...

I would really recommend this hotel if you are a dog owner wanting to bring them with you, or if you are looking for a hotel in a lovely location just away from the main bustle of Falmouth. Our room was lovely and spacious, there is an enclosed garden for dogs to run around with, dogs are welcome at mealtimes - perfect. There is also an access point to the SW coastal path about a 10 minute walk away, and two dog friendly beaches (no restrictions) within either 10-15 minute walk / 5 minute drive...

Hotel was perfect mix of hospitality and infirmity. Friendly staff, excellent food, clean rooms, thoughtful little touches like the stock of Wellington boots and nightly hot water bottles and stunning views of the sea.

It was clean and comfortable. Spacious room with very comfy bed. Staff were friendly and very helpful. It was literally one or two minutes walk to the Hall of Cornwall, so perfect if you are seeing a show there. Secure car park. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely new modern decor, spotlessly tidy room and bathroom, great location, really quiet at night, yummy breakfast, really really friendly helpful staff, only problem was we could only get one night as they were booked!

The best area to stay in Playing Place is within the village itself, particularly around the B3289 road, for convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding area.
Playing Place is a small, quiet village just south of Truro, offering a relaxed base for exploring Cornwall. The main road, the B3289, runs through the heart of the village, providing easy connections to nearby towns and attractions. You'll find a few local shops and a pub within walking distance, giving it a pleasant, community feel.
Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate Playing Place. It offers a calm environment away from the busier tourist hubs, yet it's perfectly situated for day trips.
When is the best time to go to Playing Place?
For most travellers looking for pleasant weather and a full range of activities, the best time to visit Playing Place is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October).
During these periods, you'll generally experience milder temperatures and less rain than in the peak summer months, and fewer crowds. This makes exploring the local countryside and coastal paths more enjoyable.
Families often find the summer holidays (July and August) appealing due to school breaks. While it's the busiest time, with more visitors, all attractions are fully open, and the weather is typically at its warmest, which is ideal for beach days along the nearby coast.
Couples or those seeking a more relaxed trip might prefer the shoulder seasons for their quieter atmosphere and the chance to appreciate the natural beauty without the bustling crowds.
