The hotel is situated in a central location where most things are easy to walk to. The hotel was quirky and rough around the edges.
The pillows could have been better and the room would have benefitted from tea and coffee making facilities.
The breakfast was good but continental. Don't expect anything hot. The bar is quaint but very expensive.
"great price for a good hotel in a prime location"
hotel is a quick 2 minute walk from the metro making it super convenient to zip around the city. i don't know her name but i checked in on 8/30 at around noon and the woman who checked me in needed a lesson in customer service. i was able to check in so early because i was staying in a a single and she quite rudely remarked that they had plenty of those because not many people travel solo. then when i went upstairs my key wouldn't work to get me into the floor. when i went down to tell her she told me that i had to try again and again. i told her that i considered trying to swipe in over 10 times to be sufficient. after staring each other down for a few minutes, she finally relented and gave me a new key which worked. besides all of that, the room was perfect for a single person. its a simple twin sized room, good for one person for a short stay. bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious with great water pressure. wifi worked great, was even able to stream. free breakfast in the morning was very good. would definitely recommend to a friend.
We were here for 4 nights in a de-luxe room in mid-September and were extremely satisfied with all aspects of our stay. The room was of a high standard and we were most impressed with the excellent selection of food available at the breakfast buffet. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful and willingly assisted with the on-line check-in/printing of boarding passes for our return flight.
We stayed here for one night, in an upgraded Junior Suite (complimentary). The room was enormous and the bed equally large. It overlooked the main street which was lively and with many bars and restaurants, and while there was street noise when the windows were open, when shut it was quiet. The furnishings were a bit worn - but still good. Sheets and linen were spotless and very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The restaurant seemed to be small for the size of hotel and was full when we went for breakfast, which, to be honest could have been better.
Overall, a good stay at a 'favourite old aunt' of a hotel.
We had a WONDERFUL stay at the Esplanade! We LOVED the location in that you can walk anywhere from here. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and plentiful, with a cappuccino machine available 24/7. The staff was exceedingly helpful in any request. It is definitely old style Swedish charm. The CONS: you should know THERE IS NO ELEVATOR! Yes, I had a couple super heavy bags to lug up the stairs, but wasn't horrible! But if you have issues with stairs, you should know this in advance for sure. Also, the room was nice and spacious, but we were on the 2nd floor facing a very noisy side street. No AC, so you have to have the windows open int he summertime. Again, not horrible, but a bit noticeable. Finally, the bed mattress was really soft and mushy - I prefer harder mattresses, so for someone else this might be fine. Overall I really enjoyed our stay, but these little things might make a different to someone else.

Hotel Esplanade is a personal friendly family hotel. Well kept art noveau style from the year 1910 when it was originally …More
I had a very good stay in this hotel. The facilities were amazing, particularly the gym and sauna facilities. It is also conveniently located in central Stockholm so all the major attractions are within easy reach.
We stayed in Hotel Riddargatan for four nights during a city break in Stockholm. The location is brilliant for most tourist attractions and sights of interest including Djurgarden and Gamla Stan. We walked to all the places we wanted to go, although there is a T-bana (Metro/Underground) stop right at the end of the street if needed.
The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was nice, mostly continental style but there are a few cooked options.
We stayed in a standard double room, the size was perfectly adequate for us and it was kept very clean and well-equipped. One stand out feature for me was that the bed was very comfortable!!
All in all a great stay and I would recommend Hotel Riddargatan.
Room was clean with Windows which opened inward and cooled the room quickly. The breakfast was wonderful with Muslim, milk, fruit, fil, whole grain breads, cinnamon rolls, waffles and eggs with sausage for American taste. Staff was friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom with shower.
Stockholm’s poshest neighborhood was once home of the Royal family’s horse stables and armies. It’s located in the area north of Dramaten, the off-white and gold theatre where Ingmar Bergmann got his start. Shops like Svensk Tenn offer classic Swedish design while Östermalms Saluhall provides an indoor gourmet food market.
