It is centrally placed, next to metro, although you can walk to a lot of places. Staff were good. Breakfasts are ok, standard Swedish fare, bread, ham cheese cereal, boiled egg type ( So don't expect a huge choice). The bar was great with good cocktail staff. The downside of a good bar is that when you are not in it enjoying yourself, it can be a bit noisy. We were on the fifth floor and could still hear it. Part of the reason for this was that the room was very hot (even with the radiator off) and we had to leave the window open. The balcony wasnt worth paying extra for as there was only a view of the apartments across the road. (Expedia should change the picture as it is misleading)
So pretty good, a few small niggles , but worth a visit.
"great price for a good hotel in a prime location"
hotel is a quick 2 minute walk from the metro making it super convenient to zip around the city. i don't know her name but i checked in on 8/30 at around noon and the woman who checked me in needed a lesson in customer service. i was able to check in so early because i was staying in a a single and she quite rudely remarked that they had plenty of those because not many people travel solo. then when i went upstairs my key wouldn't work to get me into the floor. when i went down to tell her she told me that i had to try again and again. i told her that i considered trying to swipe in over 10 times to be sufficient. after staring each other down for a few minutes, she finally relented and gave me a new key which worked. besides all of that, the room was perfect for a single person. its a simple twin sized room, good for one person for a short stay. bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious with great water pressure. wifi worked great, was even able to stream. free breakfast in the morning was very good. would definitely recommend to a friend.
Nice hotel with a convenient location within walking distance of most of Stockholm's attractions. Plenty of restaurants also within reasonable distance. Hotel restaurant is good, bu quite expensive. Price was reasonable given the fact that everything (particularly liquor) is expensive. Room was quiet, typical size for Europe. Bathroom was better than average. This is a hotel that still maintains its old elevator, a bit small and only one for a hotel its size is a minor inconvenience.
I had a very good stay in this hotel. The facilities were amazing, particularly the gym and sauna facilities. It is also conveniently located in central Stockholm so all the major attractions are within easy reach.
My family stayed here last week, for 4 nights, and the end of a two week journey in Denmark and Sweden. I was very pleased with Kung Carl. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was perfect for us: a european double bed, and a set of twin bunk beds for my two sons, age 10 and 9. They even lend you a pack of stuffed animals. We had a small refrigerator, too. The building is old and filled with nooks and crannies, but well maintained. The breakfast buffet was very good, but a little more fresh fruit would have been great. The location is in a high end shopping area, but it is easy to walk to everything from there. And it's right near a subway stop. They arranged our taxi to catch the Arlanda Express to the airport. It worked very well for us.
We stayed in Hotel Riddargatan for four nights during a city break in Stockholm. The location is brilliant for most tourist attractions and sights of interest including Djurgarden and Gamla Stan. We walked to all the places we wanted to go, although there is a T-bana (Metro/Underground) stop right at the end of the street if needed.
The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was nice, mostly continental style but there are a few cooked options.
We stayed in a standard double room, the size was perfectly adequate for us and it was kept very clean and well-equipped. One stand out feature for me was that the bed was very comfortable!!
All in all a great stay and I would recommend Hotel Riddargatan.
Stockholm’s poshest neighborhood was once home of the Royal family’s horse stables and armies. It’s located in the area north of Dramaten, the off-white and gold theatre where Ingmar Bergmann got his start. Shops like Svensk Tenn offer classic Swedish design while Östermalms Saluhall provides an indoor gourmet food market.
