The staff were fabulous very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent for the price. We had a dog room but it was clean and spacious. My only complaint was the tv we could only get bbc channels to work. But we were out all day . Lovely village and easy to travel from . Nice food available all day . Good value

A lovely place to stay
Nice rooms above the pub, excellent breakfast, great location and the pub itself serves excellent food (and decent beers). Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend highly!

lovely weekend away at turks head, nice warm friendly atmosphere and great staff. Room recently refurbished, with great bathroom, nice food and a cracking breakfast next morning, couldn't fault anything, will revisit.

To have a large bedroom, a large lounge area and a bathroom for this price is amazing. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. New bathroom had a large walk in shower with instant hot water. A couple of niggles in the bathroom- the tiny basin is only suitable for hand washing so don't try to wash your face in it, or shave. Also even a little shelf to put things down would be useful. Food was really tasty and properly hot- unlike some places where it is tepid. Staff were really really friendly. I had Room 6 which has the windows film covered so you can't look out on the bins. As I am slightly claustrophobic I like to be able to see out even if it is bins! I hope to visit again so will ask for a different room.

Stayed in one of the dog friendly rooms out the back which was excellent for the dog and roomy, there was nowhere the dog wasn’t allowed in the pub which was great and staff couldn’t be anymore helpful

Lovely one-night stay in Rothbury (nr Cragside)
Heidi is a lovely host and made us feel welcome. The children loved playing pool in the bar. The photos make the hotel/food look grander/more fine dining than it is, but we had a very pleasant stay nonetheless, and the staff were very friendly. Ideal for a one-night stop-off while we visited Cragside and a great sense of community.

We were put in the Garden room and it was spacious and really nice. Very comfortable and restful. The back garden area had beautiful views! Very nice staff.

We liked Rothbury but the Turks head left a lot to be desired Breakfast was poor and didn’t have the correct utensils or dishes The coffee was cold and we had to ask for a pot of tea Bed was comfortable but the rooms were dreary and could do with some tlc and a good all round clean

Excellent place to stay. Lovely big room, comfy bed, shower was powerful and hot, Wifi worked very well and was fast, evening meal was good, nicely prepared and tasty, breakfast was excellent especially sausages. All staff were a delight and were very helpful. I will stay here again when next in the area. Price was a bargain too.

Great Place to Stay!
Great place to stay in the centre of Rothbury which is a lovely old Northumberland town/village with many small shops and a beautiful church. We had a very warm welcome from the staff who could not do enough for us. Marvellous! Food is good and well prepared and the sausages are to die for! Great real ale on tap which was well kept. Room very comfortable with a view over the centre of the village. In warm weather there is an extensive beer garden with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. Overall great and would definitely stay again.

Prior to arrival, I received a confirmation email from The Turks Heads, seconds ahead of the Orbitz confirmation. I stayed in the Debdon room (6). It's a 2-room suite. The first room contained the bed and small bathroom (shower only, no tub), the second room was the lounge, both rooms are quite sizable. There is another door in the lounge, but it's locked. The room was clean, the staff were very friendly. It wasn't perfect for our arrival due to some confusion of two bookings at the same time, but they were able to get a roll away bed to set up in the lounge. The listing in Orbitz doesn't mention the included breakfast, which was a nice discovery. Breakfast was a combination of "continental" and hot - full English breakfast, a crepe with bacon, I can't remember what the third option was, but they did cook to order. The TV was the oddest thing, it included only basic channels (not an issue), but for some reason seemed to lose sync a lot on several (but not all) of the channels. The TV looked like it did have a couple of USB ports. We were able to park just about in front of the pub. On-street parking only, on a narrow road, so not a lot of passing traffic. There was a parking area close by as well. It's just outside of Cragside, the main reason for our visit. The downside is the room is right over the pub, where the music player sits. Fortunately, it wasn't played too late into the night, and was much quieter on the weekday night.

Very friendly staff - gave me brilliant advice about visiting local sites. This room was noisy and very hot, with only one small window in the bathroom for ventilation. The carpet needed a good clean. Splendid sausages on the dinner menu.

Check in was a little slow as the bar was amazingly busy at 4.00pm, but taken straight to our room by a lovely helpful young lady who was also our waitress for our evening meal which we had out in the garden in glorious sunshine. Great food, good value drinks and only 20 feet to get to our room! Free car parking right at the front door and a great location right in the middle of town. We will definitely stay again.

A comfortable night in Northumberland
Comfortable overnight stay in this quiet Northumbrian country town which we used as a base for visiting the National Trust property at nearby Cragside. The inclusive breakfast was good and, as an extra, dinner was available in the restaurant part of this pub.
