Stunning views from outside beer garden. Slight negative, Room 5 is above kitchen so smells came in room if window left open.

Great for food and a base for hiking.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening meals were really good and not expensive. There are some excellent walks straight from the the hotel and beautiful views over the garden to the Simonside Hills beyond the river. Nothing much else in Thropton, but Rothbury (2 miles) is a nice market town with a great pub (Narrow Nick).
