"The Celecton is a nice, standard Japanese hotel. The rooms are small, but they are practical, very clean and amenities are good. If you want a hotel that is close to the Castle then this is a good one, but it is 10-15 minutes walk to the train station, restaurants, and the other attractions in Matsumoto. My room was facing the Castle but directly above a busy road, so it was quite noisy."

Matsumoto's nightlife is more subdued than larger Japanese cities, but you'll still find several pleasant options, primarily centred around the city centre. The area around Matsumoto Station and stretching towards Matsumoto Castle is where you'll find most of the evening entertainment. This includes a concentration of izakayas (Japanese pubs that serve food and drinks), small bars, and a few karaoke establishments.
