The staff make this hotel I have stayed there most weeks for work purposes for the past 3 years . Chelsea on reception usually checks me in and goes out of her way to make me feel welcome like getting me green tea or hot chocolate as I don't drink tea or coffee.

Arrived early as we were going to a matinee show in the Millennium centre. Although our room wasn't ready there was a place to store our belongings safely. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast is amazing.

You felt welcomed as soon as you walked through the doors, staff were really friendly and helpful when we needed to drop our bags off as we got to the hotel too early.

One of the best showers my dad has ever had during my his night stay to watch football. Very comfortable bed. Would’ve liked to have had a bottle of water in the room but otherwise it was everything he wanted for a night’s stay.

The lady at reception was very kind and complimentary. Made us feel welcome. The room had all the amenities youd night while away from home. The rooms are a little outdated and personal preference the bed was too firm for me. All round a good hotel; affordable pricing and 24hr staff. Would return.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which area of Mamhilad is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
Mamhilad itself is a small village without a wide selection of hotels, so for budget-friendly accommodation, it's generally best to look at nearby towns such as Pontypool or Cwmbran. These towns offer more choices, including guesthouses and smaller hotels that cater to a range of budgets, while still being a short drive from Mamhilad.
For solo travellers, Pontypool might be a good starting point. It has a more established town centre with a few independent guesthouses and some chain hotels that often offer competitive rates. You can easily access the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal for walks, and public transport links are available for exploring the wider area.
Families looking for good value might find Cwmbran more suitable. It's a larger town with a shopping centre and more amenities, which can be convenient.
How much does a budget hotel in Mamhilad cost?
Budget hotel prices in Mamhilad vary, but you can find a great deal from £38 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates. Typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
When is the most affordable time to visit Mamhilad?
The most affordable time to visit Mamhilad is typically outside the peak summer months and major holiday periods, with late autumn and early spring offering the best value. During these shoulder seasons, you'll find lower prices on accommodation and potentially fewer crowds, allowing for a more relaxed and budget-friendly trip.
For solo travellers, visiting in November or March can be particularly advantageous. The weather might be a bit cooler, but the savings on guesthouses and B&Bs in the surrounding Monmouthshire area can be significant. You'll also find it easier to book tours or activities, such as exploring the nearby Brecon Beacons National Park, without peak season price hikes.
Families looking to save money should consider a trip in October or April. While the kids are still in school, these months often have half-term breaks, and you can capitalise on lower off-peak prices for cottages or larger self-catering accommodation.
Is Mamhilad a budget-friendly destination?
While Mamhilad itself is a small village and not a typical tourist destination, the surrounding Usk Valley and Brecon Beacons National Park offer an incredibly budget-friendly experience for those seeking outdoor adventures in Wales.
Accommodation in the nearby market towns like Usk or Abergavenny often provides better value than more established tourist hubs. Solo travellers and couples can find affordable bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, or even campsites, especially outside of peak season. These towns are well-connected by local bus services, though having a car offers more flexibility for exploring the wider area.
The main draw of this region is its natural beauty, which comes at no cost. Travellers can enjoy countless free activities, such as hiking and cycling along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, exploring the diverse trails within the Brecon Beacons National Park, or visiting historic ruins like Raglan Castle (though some castles have a small entrance fee, many offer free access to their grounds). Picnics with local produce from farmers' markets are a delightful and inexpensive way for couples to dine with a view.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?

Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy.
