Queens Hotel Cheltenham

Queens Hotel Cheltenham

10/10 Excellent
"Staff were lovely, receptionists very helpful, Sunday lunch was good again restaurant staff helpful and polite our room and bathroom was very clean a few grubby marks on the carpets were a little off putting otherwise a good size room. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet which was well looked after and replenished plus a good selection of hot food from the menu. Will probably visit again soon as we felt welcomed and looked after. Thankyou The Queens for a lovely stay."

"Overall, our experience at No. 131 was good, but it could very easily have been excellent. The room itself was lovely, with very comfortable beds and an amazing shower, and the housekeeping team were attentive and excellent throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the check-in experience was average at best. We were given very little information about the hotel, the adjoining amenities, or some fairly important practical details. The biggest issue came one evening when we returned to the hotel at around 1am to find all of the gates locked — and by locked, I mean chained and padlocked. We tried every gate we could find and eventually had no option but to climb over the fence to get back into the hotel. When I raised this the following morning, I was told that one of the gates should have been open. We had tried them all and none were. Either way, if access to the hotel changes late at night, this is surely something guests should be clearly advised of at check-in. The other thing that left a slightly sour taste was discovering a £20 charge on our final bill for two lost key cards — £10 each for two basic white plastic cards. I appreciate that hotels may have policies regarding lost keys, but again, this was never mentioned at check-in. Had we been told there was a £10 replacement charge per card, we would at least have been aware of it. These are relatively small things and easily fixable, which is why it’s frustrating. No. 131 is a lovely hotel, the rooms are excellent and th"
