"Perfect location. Rooms nothing special but decent"
Only problem was the slowest front desk service we have ever had. As well as Part of our group had to wait past check in time because their room wasn't ready. Fantastic location however, and if you're just using the rooms for sleeping they are just fine. Felt like we overpaid in comparison to hotels of the same quality/location in other city's but only slightly. Location was the best part of this hotel, In the heart of everything you'd want to see downtown.
Its only 2 blocks to one of the main metro stations - orange, green and the very short yellow line that takes you out to L'isle de Notre Dame; only 5 blocks to Rue de Notre Dame which lets you walk straight into old town and 6 blocks to the start of the waterfront. For those on a budget, its only a block away from the 747 bus stop (the express bus from the airport).
Very friendly helpful staff. Convenient parking out back. The rooms are a little dated but clean. There was no shower per se which was the biggest disappointment. There was a hand nozzle in a spa sized tub. We had to squat in the tub in order to shower as the nozzle did not extend over our head while standing.

I used to work in hotels and the front desk can be stressful and there are a lot of things going on, sometime things go wrong but there is no reason to let the guest in on it. If Expedia usually enters the booking in the system but faxed it instead, no need to tell your coworker and me about it for 5 minutes. If a payment method for a direct bill has to be entered, there is no reason to make me wait while you figure it out, I already paid. The hotel was nice enough and the location is good. Parking was a problem but there is a public lot not far away. From the trauma of my loooong check in, I thought it would be a disaster but overall, doable.
Me and a friend spent 3 nights at the St-Denis. I've stayed their several times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Friendly staff, clean room, good location and an affordable price. Make sure you check out the basement while you're there!
