Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is located around 12 miles from the centre of the city. The third busiest airport in Canada, it offers year-round, non-stop services to destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America. The historic centre of Montreal is small enough to explore on foot. However, if you’re visiting the city in the winter months, you’ll need to watch out for patches of ice as pavements can become very slippery. If you’re travelling further afield, you can use the city’s efficient bus and metro network or hail a taxi to take you to your destination.
If you want to get your bearings and enjoy sweeping views of the city, head to the top of Mont-Royal which rises 233 metres above Montreal. The surrounding park is home to a number of historic monuments and makes a great destination for an afternoon out.
