Lakeside Hotel & Spa

Lakeside Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good
"First impressions were good. Room & bathroom clean. Got very warm during the night even though there was no heating on. Shame the main dining room wasn't open on Monday/Tuesday it looked a better menu choice than the brasserie. Overall staff were polite but the attitude during breakfast was generally unattentive & brusk. Would I go back? Probably"

Beech Hill Hotel & Spa

Beech Hill Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"We had a fabulous 2 nights stay at the hotel, and we had a room with a hot tub which was fantastic. The spa facilities were excellent, very relaxing and well maintained. We had breakfast and dinner on both days which again was excellent, plenty of choice. All staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as it was. The only thing that was missing was somewhere to hang wet towels etc in the room especially with us having a hot tub. We could have done with hooks behind the door or on the bathroom wall, not a complaint, just a suggestion."

North Lakes Hotel And Spa

North Lakes Hotel And Spa

10/10 Excellent
"We had an excellent stay at the North Lakes hotel last weekend! As we were travelling with our toddler, we chose a superior room to allow for more space. The room was clean and appeared to be recently refurbished. The small extra touches such as a full-size fridge, coffee machine and welcome biscuit were welcomed. This hotel is fab for day trips into the Lakes and evenings in the impressive spa and restaurant onsite."

Shap Wells Hotel

Shap Wells Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"A great overnight stop en route to Scotland. Wonderfully peaceful location with great walks around the hotel grounds. As others have mentioned do not take the direct sat nav guided route when you first leave the motorway. Follow the road to the A6 and enter from that direction otherwise you will be negotiating large potholes coming in the back way."

Woodlands Guest House Windermere

Woodlands Guest House Windermere

8/10 Good
"Lovely property, breakfast good, lots of choice. Walls a bit thin, could hear person next door snoring. Windows were heavy and propped open with wood, husband had to lift up to remove the wood. Room was clean. To turn the taps on, they were the wrong way round Shower pipe was leaking but still had good pressure. Would stay again"

"Duck poop is almost everywhere and they have no kids playground. There is one but its so small. Weird for a holiday park not to have a proper kids play area outside. Next to no food options."

Pocket Guide: Lake District National Park Hotels

When it comes to natural beauty, it doesn't get much better than the Lake District! This vast rural expanse is the ideal place to get away from the stresses of everyday life and unwind. Equally, it's an exceptional venue for activities, from gentle walks to extreme sports. As it's so popular with holidaymakers, there's no shortage of excellent Lake District hotels and bed & breakfasts, with something to suit all tastes and budgets. Use the Expedia search tool to find your ideal hotel in the Lake District.

Explore Bustling Towns from Your Lake District Hotel

The majority of the Lake District is rural, and there are plenty of remote Lake District hotels, but each of the most popular lakes is flanked by a thriving and vibrant town. One of the most popular towns is Keswick, which sits on the shore of Derwent Water. The bustling market town is packed with exquisite hotels, guesthouses and bed & breakfasts. You can also find a great selection of restaurants here selling the best of international and local cuisine, along with some very cosy pubs serving the best local beers, bitters and ales. What more could you want?

Dalkeith Guest House sets the standard for this pretty town. The period property offers breath-taking views out to the surrounding hills, and guests enjoy a complimentary breakfast each morning. There's also free WiFi, which is handy for planning daily excursions.

Water Sports Galore

No visit to the Lake District would be complete without getting out on the water. If taking it easy is your style, you can hop on a scheduled cruise at most of the lakes. The cruises on Derwent Water - known as Keswick Launches - will take you to the centre of the lake, offering the best views of the majestic hills around you. More energetic options include dinghy sailing and windsurfing. There are plenty of lakeside hotels around the Lake District, as you would expect. Search for your perfect hotel in the Lake District right here on Expedia.co.uk.

Explore Nature from Your Lake District Hotel

Although, as the name suggests, the region is renowned for its lakes, that doesn't mean you have to get wet to make the most of your stay in the Lake District. Each of the area's great lakes are surrounded by striking peaks and lush green hills - it's quite a sight to behold. There are plenty of hiking paths that weave up and down, in and out and all around these grassy mountainous spines, and the peaks offer some simply breathtaking views. Be sure to take your camera and your charger.

Stay at the Great Windermere

Windermere is the largest and best known of Cumbria's lakes. It's also one of the most picturesque, which makes it a popular holiday destination, particularly in the summer months. The eponymous town makes an excellent location for your Lake District hotel. Just be sure to book well in advance - especially during the summer - as it's a popular spot. Like Kendall and Keswick, Windermere is full to the gills with delectable eateries and top pubs selling great regional beers.

Book your ideal Lake District hotel today and make the most of your stay in this gorgeous part of the world.

Hotels in Peak District are also a beautiful place to stay.
