The hotel is a five minute walk from the Kochstrasse underground station at Checkpoint Charlie on Freidrichstrasse. Although it is not at the most attractive or busy end of this street, we found it was an excellent base and within walking distance of many attractions.
The hotel is modern and our room on the fourth floor, although quite basic with no tea/coffee making facilities or fridge, was quite spacious, very clean and comfortable. We were glad that the window could be opened to allow in fresh air and that the street below was fairly quiet.
Hotel staff were polite and very helpful.
The perfect hotel for a short tourist stay in Berlin. Nicely located in the city centre and very close to the two metro stations of Kochstrasse Checkpoint Charlie and Stadtmitte, and within an hour of Schoenefeld Airport. Many of the tourist attractions are walkable such as Museum Island, The River, and Brandenburg Gate; and The Wall and Checkpoint Charlie are right on the doorstep. There's also a straight walk down Oranienstrasse into Kreuzberg, which takes about 45 mins, but metro is fast and cabs aren't too pricey. Easy enough to get to the hipper parts of town such as Kreuzberg, Neukolln, and Friedrichshain. The hotel itself was more modern than expected - extremely clean, and comfortable; and despite it's central location was very quiet - and was fantastic value for money. Only minor downside would be that there weren't many nice restaurants or bars nearby - there's a few functional, and unspectacular ones; but you'd need to head further afield if you're looking for some character and quality. Other than that it's a great hotel, in a great location for visitors who want to explore the entire city; I would happily stay there again and recommend it to others.
Great hotel well located good breakfast room excelent clean tidy staff very good polite welcoming and efficient thank you for a great stay there is a police station opposite but was OK as fare as noise at night in room.
The room wasn't quite the standard I was expecting, furniture was a little tired, carpet warn etc however it was clear that the hotel was being refurbished, new carpets in reception area etc so perhaps ours hadn't been updated yet. Service in the bar was good if a little slow. Some staff were exceptional in their friendliness and assistance others were acceptable.

Breakfast was great., the hotel staff was wonderful, and the rooms stylish, but not very clean. Also, bathroom doors are frosted glass, offering virtually no privacy if you're sharing a room. Internet connection is unacceptably bad for a major hotel in a metropolitan area. The location itself is dead—despite its name, this hotel is NOT on or really even near the Potsdamer Platz, so expect a long walk to bars, restaurants or much of anything else.

I stayed at Hotel LVB for 3 nights and overall was very pleased with everything. The room was spacious and clean with a nice view on Hasenheide - I was very lucky that the snow had fallen just before I arrived and then again during my stay. The location of the hotel is fantastic - about 20-30 mins by U- and S-Bahn to all central locations (U-Bahn station just a couple of mins walk from the hotel), about 40 mins to Schoenefeld and about the same to Olympiastadion.
Despite sub-zero temperatures outside, the room was nice and warm. The bed and the bedding were comfortable and there was a TV in the bedroom as well. The bathroom was also very nice and had a hairdryer.
I was also extremely pleased with the breakfast buffet - the choice was fantastic, from bread, ham, bacon and cheese to yogurts and different salads and juices, all nice and fresh.
All staff were really nice and polite and spoke very good English.
The only small downside was quite poor WiFi signal, at least in my room on the third floor - it was okay during the first two nights but by the final night the connection kept dropping.
However, overall I was extremely happy with my stay at LVB and when I go back to Berlin (and I definitely will because it's such a beautiful city and there is no way to see everything in 4 days!), I will want to return to the hotel.
I needed a reasonable hotel or apartment for a week in Berlin with my teenage daughter, as a back-up plan if we couldn't stay with friends. I am very, very happy we kept the reservation. The location was ideal, very central, a few minutes from the U-Bahn and a short walk up to the Brandenburg Gate. The suite was perfect, a large bathroom, separate bedroom, and a living area with a good kitchen and comfortable pull-out couch. It felt like new, spotlessly clean, well-equipped modern apartment, rather than a cramped hotel room. Had it not been mid-winter, we would have been out on the balconies enjoying the morning sun. The hotel was very quiet, night and day, tucked into a courtyard away from busy streets. In the mornings you could go down for a basic German hotel breakfast buffet (the best thing in the world when you're suffering from jet lag) or have fresh rolls delivered to your door for the same price you'd pay at the bakery. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, yet unobtrusive - there when you needed them. The price through Expedia (in January, low season) was excellent. All in all we felt very much at home, and would without hesitation stay there again. I'm already scheming a work project as a excuse to go back.
The hotel is very near to most major tourists sites in Berlin...if not, then, the subway train/bus stops are just a few steps away.
Walk like 10 minutes to Postdamer plats, and Sony center, wait to see the Fairy show every 45(?)minutes and be awed by the lights.. purely visual overload.
But, the the best ones I think are: Alexandrplatz, and Spandau christmas markets.
Except for the false fire alarm we'd experienced at 2 am and we had to vacate our rooms, walk down the stairs...everything was good.
Located south of Mitte in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg borough, the culturally diverse city of Kreuzberg is a must for museum and music lovers. Get schooled in trains, planes, and automobiles at the German Museum of Technology. The Jewish Museum wows both architecturally and historically. The Carnival of Cultures festival takes place in June, and is a spirited celebration of music and culture.
