Pleasant, quiet room; good location right by the central station; comfortable bed; pleasant, competent staff. One significant reservation: I paid Expedia in full when I booked. The hotel took my credit card details when I checked in. I had no objection to that but was surprised to find substantial dally payments to the hotel listed as ‘pending’ in my bank account. The receptionist assured me that this was normal and that the amounts would not actually be taken from my account but she couldn’t adequately explain why they were necessary. I checked out two days ago and the first of the four pending payments has only just disappeared from my bank statement. I have not encountered this practice before, can’t see the need for it and object to my bank account being used in this way. A proper explanation would be appreciated.
