The Station Hotel

The Station Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"I was genuinely impressed by this hotel. We checked in later in the day, and our family suite exceeded expectations. It was perfect for our trip, with exceptionally comfortable beds, high-quality bedding, plush towels, and thoughtful amenities that rivaled what you would expect from a five-star city hotel. The bathroom was immaculate and appeared to have been recently renovated, while the furnishings and décor struck the perfect balance between refined comfort and the charm of a cozy Scottish country inn. The staff was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant was also a highlight, offering excellent food and a full bar in a relaxed and inviting setting. I would especially recommend taking advantage of breakfast and dinner—the quality of the food and the service were outstanding. Its proximity to the river and the surrounding scenery only add to its charm—the setting looks as though it could have come straight out of A River Runs Through It. I highly recommend it and would gladly return in the future."

The Mansion House Hotel

The Mansion House Hotel

8/10 Good
"Our room was slightly unconventional, being more like a conservatory with a four poster bed in the middle. Many curtains to close! Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Would come back. There are some areas that need maintenance. Old furnishings are antique. One negative was that my son stayed in a camp bed in the room with a very thin mattress and wasn’t entirely comfortable. Other than that we had a nice stay."

"This place is a must if you are visiting Speyside. A most unique and charming experience. From the restaurant serving Scottish dishes, to the Quaich Bar with its outstanding selection of whiskeys, our stay here was incredible and memorable. The rooms are well appointed and clean, and staff were beyond welcoming. A perfect spot for day trips to the nearby distilleries."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kingston?
The best area to stay in Kingston is the town centre, particularly around the riverside and the main shopping streets.Kingston's town centre is the hub of activity, offering a mix of historic architecture and modern amenities. The area around the River Thames is especially pleasant, with a long promenade featuring various eateries and pubs. The main shopping thoroughfare, Clarence Street, and the surrounding pedestrianised areas are home to a wide range of shops, from independent boutiques to well-known department stores.Couples will find the town centre ideal for a relaxed and convenient stay. You're within easy walking distance of the Rose Theatre for an evening show, and there are numerous restaurants along the river for a romantic dinner. The proximity to Hampton Court Palace, just a short boat trip or bus ride away, also makes it a great base for exploring. For those looking for a quieter stay with good transport links, the areas slightly set back from the main high street, towards Kingston Hill or Surbiton, offer a more residential feel.
When is the best time to go to Kingston?
The best time to go to Kingston, Scotland, is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is at its mildest and the days are long.During this period, you can expect average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C, making it ideal for exploring the town and its surroundings. The longer daylight hours mean you have more time to enjoy outdoor activities like coastal walks along the Firth of Clyde or visiting the nearby Kingston Beach. This is also when many local events and festivals take place, offering a chance to experience the local culture. For those who prefer a quieter visit with fewer crowds, the shoulder seasons of May and September also offer pleasant weather and good opportunities for sightseeing. The temperatures are a bit cooler, but you can still enjoy sunny days and the beauty of the Scottish coastline without the peak summer rush.
