Pocket Guide: Ipswich Holywells Park Hotels

Holywell's Park is a Conservation Area and County Wildlife Site located in Ipswich, Suffolk. Consisting of green open spaces, children's play area and Grade II listed buildings (the Orangery and the Stable Block), Holywell's Park is a popular hub for the local community and well worth a visit if you're staying in any nearby hotels in Ipswich.

A Popular Park with a Long History

The history of Holywell's Park goes back to the 13th Century, although there is evidence of activity on the site dating back much further, with the discovery of Saxon tools and Roman coins. The park was presented to the people of Ipswich in 1936 and has since been opened to the public, becoming a popular hub for the community, tourist attraction and a haven for Suffolk's wildlife.

This 67-acre site has lots of facilities, including a visitor centre and café, where you can grab a light refreshment and learn something about the park. The park is a great place to visit for families, with lots of activities and facilities available for children, including a children's play area and water play area (available in summer only). Although the manor, around which the park was built, has long since disappeared, many beautiful listed buildings remain, including the Victorian conservatory. If you're feeling adventurous, you could even tackle the maze, which you'll find in the walled garden.
