A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico. We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. The rooms and bathrooms are not really new but they are clean. All rooms have ocean view. Hard liquor, beers and sodas available in the rooms. The buffet has many options, huge seating area, never a wait for a teble. There is something for everyone. They don't change it a lot daily but it is still enough to choose from. There are some other restaurants available for dinner. We went to 2 only, they were good, we don't eat meat so I can't say much for the dishes. Few pools. I believe only one was heated. You can choose the pary pool or the relax pool. Their beach is small but the water was nice, no big waves like on the gulf side. They organize day and night pool parties at another hotel, also free of charge and transportation included. I am looking forward to visiting this resort again.
