"Good price and nice breakfast with cooked to order options. Lovely to have a hotel with a full gym and swimming pool. Location is a little odd as it's on an old airfield I believe which is now an industrial estate. Part of the grounds is a golf club but there are limited areas which are available there to walk or run meaning I ended up having to use a treadmill for my morning run instead of running outside. Seems a shame to not make the golf course more multi use and either push people into running like a hamster or onto roads shared with trucks. The swimming pool is a lovely addition but very strange. In the women's changing, you lock your locker with your room card. Great! But then where do you put it? I ended up doing a couple of lengths with it in my hand but it felt a bit strange. I would have used the facilities more if it was all a bit more thought through. That said, nice place, just needs a bit more joined up thinking to make it a great place."

"We only stayed for one night before an early morning flight from Stansted, but we were pleased with our stay. It was good value for money, the bed was comfortable, and we had a good night’s sleep — albeit a short one due to our early flight! The hotel was only around a 15-minute drive from the terminal, which made it really convenient for an early departure. There’s also a large car park at the back, which was really handy. Just be mindful of where you park if you’re leaving your car there, as we came back to find ours had been rather generously decorated by the local birds after parking under a tree! We arrived too late to eat at the pub, but there’s a small shopping centre about a 10-minute walk away with various takeaway options and a Co-op. Overall, we had a comfortable and convenient stay and would stay here again."

"It’s a little confusing when you are booking the Novotel hotel since there are multiple locations. This location is nice because you can walk across the canal and it’s a nice way to see the city. It’s close to a wonderful breakfast spot on the canal!"

"We had a wonderful stay at the Delta Marriott while visiting the area for a family birthday! Since it was an unusually hot day, walking into a crisp, perfectly air-conditioned room was a huge relief. Our room was very spacious for our family of four, with comfortable beds, quality linens, excellent room amenities, and a nice, clean bathroom. The kids loved the pool, which is conveniently located in its own separate area. Breakfast the next morning was great with plenty of variety to keep everyone happy, and the staff were exceptionally polite, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. All in all, a fantastic experience—we’d definitely stay here again!"

B&B Hotel Cambridge South

B&B Hotel Cambridge South

8/10 Good
"Having stayed here several times now, I continue to have a very positive experience and it has become my go-to option whenever I’m in the area for work. The location is extremely convenient, particularly for commuting into Cambridge, with the train station literally on the doorstep and easy access to Stansted Airport and the surrounding areas. It also offers very good value for money, with reasonable room rates as well as fairly priced food and drinks within the hotel. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful and accommodating, and their excellent service is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. The rooms are comfortable and, although I’ve had a couple of minor issues on previous stays, the staff have always dealt with them professionally and done their best to make sure I was happy. Overall, it’s a comfortable, convenient and well-priced hotel that works perfectly for my business trips to Cambridge. After several stays, I’m still very happy to recommend it and will definitely stay again."

"I needed somewhere cheap and easy to stay near Stansted Airport and this hotel did the job. Takes about 5-10 minutes to drive to the airport from here. They appear to store a lot of cars in their car park so I suspect their shuttle service is quite popular. I didn’t use this as I had already booked Mid Stay. I stayed in room 8A, a single but had a double bed. Located just through the restaurant doors by the stairs it was perfect for sneaking out at 4am. The room was modern and clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing, really fancy with lots of options. Reception lady was friendly, but I saw no one else. Literally a quick stop off. WiFi was very unreliable. TV had a few channels to choose from. Mostly it’s somewhere to sleep. The M11 services have loads of electric car chargers (incl. Tesla ones) so no need to worry about your EV at this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

Which area of Great Easton is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious solo travellers visiting Great Easton, focusing on areas slightly outside the immediate village centre, such as those along the main roads leading into town, often yields the best value for accommodation. While Great Easton itself is a charming, more rural village, true "cheap hotels" in the traditional sense might be scarce directly within its core. These towns are just a short drive from Great Easton and tend to have a wider selection of accommodation types, including some more budget-friendly choices. Dunmow, for instance, offers a few guesthouses and small hotels that cater to travellers seeking value, and it's well-connected by local bus routes to other villages, making it convenient for solo explorers. Thaxted, with its historic charm, also features quaint B&Bs that can be more economical than larger hotels.Staying a little further out allows solo travellers to save money on accommodation while still being within easy reach of Great Easton's attractions.
