We stayed at the Almodovar for a week and it was our first holiday in Berlin. We chose the hotel because we are vegetarian and vegan and we were also impressed by the hotels green and organic credentials.
We were made very welcome by the staff and enjoyed wonderful breakfasts and evening meals in the Bardot restaraunt
attached to the hotel, which had a very cool, laid back atmosphere.
Our rooms were very comfortable (wonderful mattress!) and clean - we chose a room overlooking the courtyard so we weren't bothered by traffic noise (its on a tram route)
Just outside the door you can take a train anywhere or even better, you can see the delightful East Side Gallery on the Berlin Wall. I'm almost reluctant to divulge this best kept secret in Berlin. Would highly recommend.
Hotel is in a fantastic building. It has a very interesting mix of old and new which is quite common in Berlin. Very easy to get to from the airport and great starting point for sight seeing dur to close proximity to the train station. No free wifi in the room but you can access it for free in the lobby. The bar is also very nice and has good beer.
Good location for our needs, close to our son's temporary lodging. Right on a subway entrance. Room has little storage capacity. Wifi in the bedroom was poor or simply not available, this was really annoying. Clean rooms, carpets in hallway and bedrooms not the best.
The hotel is very well located near to every thing, there is a supermarket around the córner, wich is very convenient and a lots of restaurants. The metro station is less than 100 meters from the hotel, that connects you with Alexanderplatz wich is the centre of Berlin
"Hotel is situated very handy for the U + S Bahn "
Adequate Hotel The only serious drawbacks is there is no Air Conditioning & if your at the back of the Hotel the main railway line is outside your window & in the Front your on the main emergency vehicle route so expect Sirens to go past all hours of the night.
Formerly in East Berlin, the arrival of MTV Europe and other media companies has enhanced Friedrichshain’s reputation as one of the liveliest, most fashionable areas in Berlin. Its pubs, clubs and cafés centre round Boxhagener Platz and Simon-Dach-Strasse, and a long section of the Berlin Wall remains on Mühlen Strasse. Karl-Marx-Allee is a testament to Stalinist architecture; the Volkspark Friedrichshain houses the Brothers Grimm Fountain.
