The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom, I think they had just be refurbished. There was a little noise from the pub beer garden but it wasn't bad and didn't last too late, we tend to go to bed early and didn't keep us awake. There was an Infra Red Sauna in our room, never seen that before in a hotel room which was great, clean and free to use. Outside there is a small free parking area belomnging to the hotel. There is a larger council car park immediately next to it which only costs £3 per day, free after 6 and Sundays so well done to the council for not screwing the motorist! We can highly recommend this hotel for it's convenience being right in the centre of Ellesmere. We didn't go into the bar so can't comment on that.

Sadly there are breakfast facilities on site and one of nights include when the cafe opposite was closed. Hotel Parking is limited but public parking is immediately available. Room was clean, comfortable and warm.

Booked last minute when going to see the Kings of Leon in Wrexham. Got the family room as the only one that was left . It was really comfortable with a good shower and really clean (looked as if it had recently been re decorated) Really friendly and helpful staff. Ellesmere is a nice little town

Great value stay
We were at a nearby wedding and just needed a room for the night. This was amazing value for money. Very comfortable, and with fabulous service. There is a lovely pub within the hotel, but we didn't hear a thing from our room.

Uncomfortable stay!!
Not happy. Room in second floor. No lift!! I am disabled and the stairs are like a maze!! Shower is fixed to the wall therefore unable to use properly or comfortably!! Chair flimsy not comfortable. Noisy atmosphere as next to main road and not good isolation. Too much expensive for such condition!! I will never come back

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review. You made no mention of any disability on your booking.Your expectations for a hotel originally built in the 1700's were possibly a bit high and especially for our quiet little town of Ellesmere. Most people book our hotel because it is in the center of Town, which means it is on a road (and does not seem to be mentioned by most guests). On the plus side, guests are also able to walk to the mere, (a popular beauty spot) or down the Canal, which our Hotel is famous for holding the first meeting here to arrange to build it. We are pleased to say your demand to use a Microwave was met, even though we do not offer this service. And finally, we are just as disappointed in you, for writing a review about things you could have mentioned before booking. Things we would normally hope to sort out before a guest visits.

Food facilities not apparent. Room 7 is an "inside" room therefore no ventilation, no window to outside and therefore very stuffy. Staff very friendly and welcoming, only let down by their facilities.

Very good value for money
The room was comfortable and for the low price, well worth the money. Staff very helpful. Only slight downside was traffic noise from the street outside and also some noise during the evening from adjoining / upstairs rooms being used (I assume) by hotel staff

The hotel website does not work, ( I used third part for a reservation) It offers free parking but the spaces are very limited. ( I needed to use a paid parking next door) Room heater was not working ( a portable was offered) Emergency light on all the time People walking all night on the floor above

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Yes, we have limited parking but are lucky that the Main town car park next door is only 30p per hour (at the moment) and is free from 6pm till 8am. The small Green light on the Emergency Lighting has to be on, but do understand that it emits a glow.

Lovely single room for the week with comfortable bed. Nicely modernised and finished. Modern en-suite bathroom and nice hot shower with good pressure. The pub downstairs includes a fantastic courtyard with covered seating and serves an excellent capuccino! I'll definitely be back if I'm ever back Ellesmere, whether as a hotel guest or pub customer (or both!).

There was a hair in the shower, the tv remote didn’t work and the battery compartment was scared closed so you couldn’t check them. The emergency light was on all night and made the room very bright and the window wouldn’t close tight.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that you found the mattress too hard. We have quite a few repeat guests who request the room you stayed in, due to them liking the bed. I would also like to thank you for mentioning it at the time of check out and not just on the Expedia review page. It's always good to be told directly of an issue. If you had been able to view the room at our normal check in time we may have been able to move you to one of our other rooms with a softer mattress. It was just unfortunate that you requested us to open up at lunchtime, so you could check in and collect the key and then go straight off to your function.

We stayed here for our 2 year Anniversary so we could go and have a romantic row on the mere, the hotel is a B&B but the staff and the landlady are amazing. The room was the best room they had which included a infrared sauna such a treat to have in your own room. It is dated but let me assure you it has the best hospitality. Thanks so much A**

Very clean rooms & look recently refurbished. Stayed twice now in room 1 & 10 & only problem is the landing which creaks everytime someone walks on it. Walls quite thin too as got noise from other guest when in room 1. Nice hotel. Staff friendly but will take ear plugs next stay.
