"I was in a superior room. Breakfast more than adequate. Parking around back which is always good in towns like this. City parking is expensive (30 a day). Very handy to everywhere in town . Has all the mod cons in the room. "

"Great food. Loved the stairs! We were up on the top floor, so it was quite a workout. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The road was noisy, but—heck—it’s at a junction in the city centre, so . . . Not a fan of the Royalists, but hanging out where Charles I reportedly stayed was charming."

Sitting out overlooking the river was a delightful experience and belied the fact that we were within a few hundred yards of the town. We could have been deep in beautiful countryside.
