The hotel looked awful from outside. It was on a busy main road and the whole building needed exterior renovation. Inside was much better. Although the decorations were not to our taste ( predominantly grey ) it was obvious that interior work had been recently done. The lady on reception was not particularly welcoming, she seemed to be mostly on her own and was also dealing with bar customers. She turned out to be perfectly pleasant later on, and at breakfast the following morning. Our room was predominantly decorated in red, which was a bit startling. We would have liked a walk- in shower, and a much firmer bed ( I suspect this was rather old and past it!). The bedroom, like the rest of the hotel, was spotlessly clean. Our room was at the back of the building which was quiet, but with a very depressing view of the vast car park, and piles of rubble on a derelict building site beyond that. The room was also very hot without the radiator on. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good, perhaps some yogurt, fruit and more interesting bread would have been nice.?This is a mixed review because that"s exactly how we felt after our visit.
