Hotel close to the seafront

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Pros: The hotel position to the seafront is the reason we booked it.Very good.
Cons: Noise from other rooms people having televisions on much to loud. New mattresses in the bedrooms would be a godsend.
Location: Walking is easy all flat.Good views close to town.
We had room 39 a lot of noise from the road late into the night. The bed was very uncomfortable. My wife and I had dinner in the hotel the first night which was very good. It's a pity the breakfast was not up to the same standard. The food seem to be swimming in fat.Such a pity.

Cheerful enough

Posted 02-Nov-2016
Pros: Excellent staff. Great breakfast
Cons: Needs a make-over
Location: Excellent location. Out of town but close enough to get in & out. Not much going on but that suits me
Long time since being here... the piano kind of sums it up; an excellent model but in need of quite a bit of renovation. Notes stick. Needs a good tuning & the case needs repolishing. But the team are excellent - very helpful, personable & take time to talk to you. Great breakfast and all very clean. The location of the Grosvenor is perfect... near the bottom of the hill, out of town but a gentle walk gets you into Torquay, 2 minutes to the sea. Reminds me a bit of someone taking over Fawlty Towers, putting in fabulous staff but forgetting to renovate the place. Maybe that's on the cards for next year. Either way, I shall always stay here when in the area. If nothing else, they all love my piano playing even if the occasional note sticks! alan@pianosmith.co.uk

Toddler friendly but good for grown ups too.

Posted 01-Nov-2016
Every member of staff was friendly and helpful and this more than compensated for the areas needing updating. With a 2 year old we were able to enjoy the excellent food served in the restaurant and breakfast buffet was very good. The indoor pool was a hit too.

A sad old hotel

Posted 25-Oct-2016
Unfortunately the illuminated Grosvenor Hotel Sign which was on all night shone into our bedroom via the bathroom window and through the glass which partitioned the en-suite from the bedroom. The sash windows had no latch on them. So the top window fell down and rattled all night. The mattress on our double bed was limp and not supportive. The coffee at breakfast was unbelievably weak, only beaten by the fruit juice that had a concentration level that was so low to make it tasteless. Look at the cobwebs in the breakfast room between the pillars and the ceiling. For my party this was too much. We requested our money back but to no avail.

Great location, and very good facilities

Posted 21-Oct-2016
Pros: Location, price, food and cleanliness, there is a pool, and fitness suite, we went in October, but the gardens and outside areas looked very welcoming, food was first class, drinks where far too expensive
Cons: Drinks in bar were too expensive But I suppose you could take your own, or go for a drink elsewhere.
Location: Great for the beach and town

Weekend at Grosvenor

Posted 14-Oct-2016
Location: The location was very good within walking distance of the theatre and restaurants and shops
We enjoyed our stay at the Grosvenor Hotel. Feel that it could now do with some tlc especially the indoor swimming pool area and a lick of paint. Our room was huge and very comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant on the Sunday night, we were the only ones eating there which was a shame as the food was excellent.

Happy stay for our anniversary.

Posted 11-Oct-2016
Pros: The room was so nice.
Cons: A longer stay!
Location: Only being there for a few days exploring the area was a bit limited.
A most enjoyable stay in a lovely room, excellent service, the staff were brilliant, food great and so friendly. Thank you for an excellent time.

Phenomenal service! Well located. But, hotel needs major update/re-model. Seems that work has begun.
