Nice Friendly B & B

Posted 04-Jun-2017
Pros: We liked the "quirky" nature of the inn and the friendliness of all of the staff.
Location: The inn is in a village a few miles from the lovely city of Exeter which was the main reason for our visit.
Very good village inn with excellent reasonably priced home cooked food. Tom and his staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome.

Convenient stop for A30

Posted 03-Jun-2017
Pros: The waitress was very nice and the food was good.
Cons: Cleaning and decor. Fresh paint and sticking the wallpaper up could make a bit of difference. Old world charm needs maintenance this isn't getting it
Location: Was just a stop over for us. Seemed a nice quite village
Staff were friendly but the building is very run down and in poor decorative condition. The room itself was small, a hotchpotch of missed matched furnishings and an unpleasant shower cubbyhole. This would've been fine, afteral it is a pub not a first class hotel - but there is no excuse for dirt. The sink was dirty, the mugs were dirty, the kettle dirty, walls and carpet grimey, the towels smelled funny and were holey, the bedding was clean but holed in places. The noise from the bar was not excessive and didn't bother us and I would expect some noise in a pub.

Almost a Midsomer moment....

Posted 12-Sep-2016 on Hotels
We stayed for one night as a mid journey break on our way home from Cornwall (very welcome as the A30 around Bodmin was hideous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Inn was a lovely old building, beautiful baskets outside, and inside all uneven floors, little steps where you wouldn't expect them. Very 'Midsomer', and we loved it. The only downside I could see was that there was no shower. We didn't eat on the night we arrived, but breakfast was fine.

Great accommodation

Posted 04-Jul-2016 on Hotels
We only stayed here for one night. However the staff were extremely helpful and polite and could not do enough for us. Room, although small, was clean and ample for our needs with perfectly adequate en suite facilities. Good food and good atmosphere

The Good, The Bad and the Downright Ugly

Posted 04-Jul-2016
Pros: Pretty from the outside - nice bar area
Cons: The Standard of the Rooms
We stayed at the King Arms Inn for one night only last night - thank goodness it was for only one night! Please note that this Review is based on our stay which was in Room 6 - booked through Expedia - whether or not this was the reason we had this room we cannot say. The Good! - A Very Pretty Inn from the outside, with good kerb appeal. Atmospheric Bar, and friendly attentive staff. The Bad! - A very noisy room - we could hear every conversation that went on in the bar whilst in the bedroom. Very small bedroom, with bedding which had rips in the sheets and pillow cases. Grubby Carpets. Breakfast was at 9.00 a.m. - we arrived at 9.05 to find no-one in the Restaurant area. Once I had ordered my Cooked Breakfast (one egg, 2 rashers of bacon, 1 sausage, one tomato, and a few baked beans (they had run out of mushrooms!) and two slices of brown bread (they had run out of white!), it took 25 minutes to arrive. We had to request butter and jam - the butter took another 6 or 7 minutes to arrive, by which time I had eaten the toast. Two more members of staff arrived at about 9.15 and commenced hoovering the bar floors!. At no time were we acknowledged by the Management, even though they walked through the eating area. The Downright Ugly! - The Bathroom had not been cleaned. The waste bin still had a used flannel and other items left from the previous guest. The Toilet had not been cleaned, and the top of the pan was stained with urine and covered in pubic hairs! The wardrobe couldn't

You get what u pay for

Kitchen closed on arrival at 2035. One sittjng for breakfast so had to miss it. They said I could have a roll for breakfast and brought it up to my room at 2100. I said it needed putting in the fridge so fresh in the morning and she said no one would be around at 830 in the morning to give it to me. Also loud music went on until 1220 so couldn't sleep til early hours.....
