Okay, so maybe it's not the original castle from the time of Brian Boru, but it's still really old and historically meaningful. The staff were great, and the bed was the most comfortable I had in all of Ireland.
The good: Check in was friendly and smooth. The room was clean and the bathroom was nice. The bed was comfortable.
The not so good: The window was very drafty. When the wind blew you could actually see the drapes blow, I had to double check it wasn't open. My first night the room got pretty cold but I sleep well when it's cold so it didn't bother me till I got out of bed. After the first night the staff must have turned up the radiator and it was uncomfortable hot at night.
The bad: One night I came back late to find that the staff had opened my window and left it wide open. The door almost knocked me over when I turned the nob because the wind was blowing so hard. Some rain had made it into the room and it was quite cold. When I went to check out I was in quite a hurry to get to the airport but could not find anyone to pay. They don't take credit cards so I had to find someone to pay cash while my cab was waiting.

Very handy position to Dublin centre. Host was accommodating and helpful however the general state of the room and facilities was in need of an upgrade ie the towels were old and frayed, no tea/ coffee facilities in room, no soap/ shampoo in room.
