"Handy for the 3 Arena, lovely hotel. Hard beds tho"
The hotel is really easy to find - I took the 747 bus from the airport, which passes along the North Wall, right beside the Samuel Beckett bridge. Get off at that stop - the hotel is just across the bridge, and you can see the name (now Clayton) from the other side of the river.
The lobby was gorgeously decorated, staff friendly to a fault, and they had a meal deal - except I wasn't availing of meals. I asked for, and got, a quiet room, around the back. The room itself was also really lovely, with comfy chairs, a double and single bed, a tea maker and ironing board. I did find the toilet flush rather weak on the first evening, but whyever that was, it wasn't a problem thereafter.
The main sticking point was the bed, which had a mattress I found horrendously hard! I ended up having to fold the double bedspread so it was more like a sleeping bag, so I had half over me and half under - and it still wasn't soft enough! I had to put a pillow under my back as well. That worked pretty well..
They called me when a taxi arrived - which I hadn't ordered - and the next morning, an alarm sounded on my room phone, frightening me half to death! I couldn't see an alarm setting, and I think this was a previous guest's requested wakeup call. Perhaps they should get their records straight..!
