Generator Hostel Dublin

"Nice hostel, clean, but rude staff"
The Generator Hostel is pretty nice: clean, safe, and inexpensive. The worst thing was that almost all of the staff members were pretty rude and bothered by almost any request. I swear it wasn't just me—I saw one staff member roll her eyes at a guest who was (silently) struggling with his luggage. As a newcomer and traveler, this can be really off putting, as it was for me. I expected more from any hostel staff member, but especially those in such a friendly country! It's a bit out of the central area of Dublin, but you can walk right to the Spire (direct center) in 20 minutes. It is next to the Jameson Distillery, which is pretty nice. The hostel itself has everything you need right there (food, drink, safe and secure lockers, lots of seating in the lobby, adapters and water sold at the front desk). Room was a bit cold, but I doubled up on the blankets so that was fine. For reference, I stayed in a private room with ensuite bathroom (and they upgraded me to a 3 person room for just me)—so I can't really comment on the shared rooms. Overall, felt safe and clean, though.

It was a nice hotel. But I think if I didn't get upgraded to a suite I think the cost of the stay was very expensive.

Good location 15min walk if that from temple bar area. Bed was very comfortable. A bit too noisey for me and showers a bit weak.

I was not expecting much, as price was so reasonable and had only booked standard room, but was absolutely delighted with what I found.

"Big Hostel Close to the Spire"
This is a huge hostel with tons of rooms. It is close to O'Connell street and the spire and just a short walk to Temple Bar and town. The staff is helpful and nice. However it is not a quiet hostel if you want to get some rest. Also, there was one bathroom for ten people which did create some frustration. Overall a fine stay.

"Fantastic location, near to everything"
Stayed at this hotel for my birthday and new year, although the hotel was in a fantastic location our room backed on to an alley way that was really noisy from about 5.30 every morning, the Windows could do with replacing and then maybe you could sleep better, the whole hotel could do with a massive make over but to be honest we was not in our rooms long enough to worry about the decor, it was clean with clean towels daily, overall a really pleasant stay apart from lack of sleep. Hotel restaurant and bar next door were good value as guests enjoyed 20% off of menu and drinks.
